Business Operations Manager Intern
Job Summary
The Business Operations “BizOps” Manager is the ultimate glue and multiplier for the Product and Technology organization. The Business Operations Manager lives through the cycles of being an excellent listener, having a strong intuition for an organization problems and opportunities, conducting deep root cause analyses, structuring problems for solutions, and driving the changes. Good changes can come from either best practices or an adaptive approach based on status quo, Business Operations Manager must have a keen sense towards unintended consequences and understand how changes can be best made. Business Operations Manager is also the go to person to help align the entire organization towards the company goals with supporting operational metrics. As such, the Business Operations Manager is often called up on to develop business case and support strategic decisions.
A successful candidate brings a diverse set of skills and is a highly effective business problem solver, relationship builder, and program manager. The ideal candidate has experience working in both business (finance, investment banking, consulting etc.) as well as hands-on software engineering role (engineer, QA, SRE, program manager etc.).
Roles and Responsibility (list in order of importance)
- Develop an understanding of product lifecycle management (PLM) process
- Monitor and track output against project plan and timeline
- Facilitate strategic insights and improvement opportunities
- Work with stakeholders to promote quality focused initiatives
- Support transformation projects
- Support business decisions with data analysis and business case
- Facilitate and actively participate in training and improvement initiatives
- Evangelize an environment for continuous learning and improvement
- Work with cross functional stakeholders to improve operational standards
Required Qualifications
Years of Experience in Related Field: 0
Education: Working toward a Business Administration or Information Management degree.
Technical/Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrates strong interest in business processes as it relates to enterprise software technology
- Independent thinker - always have an opinion and willing to accept new information
- Passion for solving problems with structured analysis and data
- Transforming vague problems into practical data-driven questions
- Financial and budget basics
- Data analytics skills with excel – can create pivot tables, data transformation and basic statistical analysis
- Strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills. Can create eye-catching power point presentations
- Strong action bias – find creative ways to get questions answered and thing done
- Be a responsive and dependable source of information in a fast paced, multi-functional environment
- Basic understanding of Agile, Scrum methodologies a plus
- Willing to converse with business stakeholders and engineers alike
- Ability to plan, adapt and drive changes
