Position Summary
Xcel Energy is seeking candidates to support the HR Technology function as we implement a number of new technologies to modernize our employee experience. This internship will primarily support HR Help, our new new employee portal. The scope of our portal spans case management, knowledge content and document management. Beyond its initial introduction in June 2022, we will be supporting our employee population as well as continuing to evolve the portal with new capabilities. The internship will have a visible role within HR Technology and liaising with other HR teams, to triage, assign and resolve tickets, to support testing and to support the HR knowledge content library.
Each intern will be relied upon to play a role in achieving department objectives and goals. The program will allow you to apply what you've learned in school and further enhance your knowledge through hands on training and provide opportunities to network and learn with others across the Human Resource organization.
Typical intern responsibilities could include but are not limited to:
- Reviewing knowledge content to ensure alignment to style guides and governance standards; engaging with content authors; testing knowledge content in development environments
- Supporting testing of defects and new enhancements, liaising with the broader HR Technology team and other groups of testers
- Troubleshooting issues and triaging HR Technology support tickets
- Creating and editing job aids and knowledge content
- Supporting the campaign calendar (collecting requirements, testing content, etc.)
This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship's initial term based on the candidate's successful performance and Xcel Energy's business needs.
Minimum Requirements
- Must be enrolled in a bachelor's degree program
- Able to commute to the corporate office in Minneapolis, MN.
- Able to work full-time during the summer
- Able to commit to a minimum of 6 months
- Critical thinker, detail oriented, customer service and interpersonal skills required
- Must be self-motivated, have a good learning and technology aptitude, and the ability to work well with others.
- Excellent written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in Human Resource, HR Information Systems, Communications, or related area.
- Sophomore or above preferred
- Writing, authoring, or publishing experience
- Customer support experience
- Experience with intranets or Human Resource information systems

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $16.80 - $17.90 per hour
