Software Engineer & Application Engineer

Job description

  • Delivers innovative and functional solutions, driving them through design, planning, development, deployment, and support that simplify business processes and workflows to drive business value
  • Uses solid software development best practices and standard tools to ensure quality and maintainable digital solutions that include modularity, scalability, observability, and integration
  • Works on key projects and digital innovation initiatives following agile principals
  • Collaborates with other product teams to develop and share reusable software components and services, implement consistent automated builds including managing test coverage, build schedules, and build qualities
  • Scope of work includes, but not limited to:
    • web application development
    • foundational digital platforms and capabilities development
    • distributed computing
    • system and security design and development
    • networking and data storage
    • automation technologies, artificial intelligence, and natural language processing
    • UI / UX design
    • Mobile application development and publication
    • APIs design and implementation across platforms and solutions
  • Design and develop using data engineering, data integration and data management practices and tools



Software Engineer

Key responsibilities

  • Hands-on coding to deliver functional, innovative software solutions
  • Utilize CI/CD tooling to deploy software and iterate on solutions
  • Design and develop data integration and data management practices and tools for software solutions
  • Maintain working knowledge of the latest software engineering tools and practices for continuous integration, unit tests, static and dynamic profiling, code coverage, code analysis, and automated tests
  • Work on an agile team to prioritize and deliver business value



Application Engineer

Key responsibilities

  • Hands-on development for integrating existing solutions with larger enterprise ecosystem (e.g., API development, Azure Data Factory)
  • Utilize CI/CD tooling to deploy software and iterate on solutions
  • Design and develop data integration and data management practices and tools for software solutions
  • Understand technical requirements to maintain & support vendor applications
  • Work on an agile team to prioritize and deliver business value



Required education / degrees

  • Currently enrolled in bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related fields or equivalent experience
  • Must provide a current, unofficial transcript with online resume (as proof of good academic standing) when applying for this position to be considered.



Required qualifications / certifications

  • Experience building solutions in one of the following: C#, C++, Angular, Node.js, SQL, Ansible, R, Java, Python
  • Familiarity with gitflow and source control management methodologies
  • Demonstrated understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (plan, design, develop, test, release, maintain and support, decommission)
  • Familiarity consuming, designing, and implementing modern API's, including how modern UI's are built consuming services/API's
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems & apply creative thinking to deliver technical solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated business negotiation skills, influence, conflict resolution, and resolving technical stalemates



Preferred skills / competencies

  • Hands-on experience with Azure Cloud, Service Now, Ansible, and Azure DevOps
  • Experience working on agile teams, utilizing industry methodologies such as SAFe, Scrum, Kanban etc.
  • Ability to perform cost benefit analysis at a technical level
  • Experience developing with low-code platforms (e.g., PowerApps) is a plus
  • Previous software engineering/application engineering internships, co-ops and/or related project experiences are a plus
  • Successful candidates will frequently work with global teams across time zones
