The Role
Run a focused FP&A project to document and improve end-to-end spend forecasting. What's the role?

What is the internship?

We are looking for a highly analytical and proactive FP&A Intern to run a focused project on improving and documenting our end‑to‑end spend forecasting process in Finance. This role goes beyond traditional finance internships—it combines process understanding, assessment, and applied AI to deliver tangible improvements in how forecasting is performed across the organization.

You will take ownership of documenting the full forecasting workflow, including inputs, assumptions, ownership, timelines, and outputs, and identify key inefficiencies and gaps in the current process. Based on this, you will be part of the project team designing new forecasting processes going forward.

A key part of the role is exploring how standardization, machine learning and AI can support financial forecasting activities. You will:

  • Support the spend forecast process documentation
  • Support the project team to assess the current spend forecast processes
  • Support the design on a new spend forecast process proposal

This is a hands-on, impact-driven role where you will work closely with FP&A and business unit controllers.

This internship is ideal for candidates who want to combine finance, data, and technology to solve real business problems and who are motivated by clear deliverables and visible impact rather than a purely observational internship.

Who are you?

We are looking for candidates who are currently enrolled in a Master’s degree in Finance or a closely related field (e.g. Business with strong finance content, Economics, Accounting & Control), or MBA candidates with a strong finance focus.

You:

  • Are available full‑time for a period of 8–12 weeks (MBA) or somewhat longer for Master’s students if needed, depending on your academic program.
  • Are based in, or able to be based in, the Amsterdam area, and can be 2–3 days per week from our Amsterdam office to engage closely with stakeholders and the FP&A team.
  • Are eligible to undertake an internship in the Netherlands (including any required visa and/or university sponsorship arrangements).

You bring:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure ambiguous topics (e.g., processes, data flows, assumptions)
  • Solid Excel and data handling capabilities; experience with financial modeling or working with structured datasets is a plus
  • A good understanding of finance and accounting fundamentals, and interest in how these translate into practical forecasting and performance management processes.
  • Interest in process improvement, automation, and how AI can be applied in a finance/FP&A context. Prior exposure to AI tools  is a plus, not a requirement.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with cross‑functional and senior stakeholders, run interviews, ask probing questions and constructively challenge the status quo.
  • A proactive, hands‑on mindset with ownership of deliverables and the ability to drive a project from scoping through to tested recommendations.

You stand out if you:

  • Have experience with process mapping, operational workflows, or FP&A/finance-related topics (e.g. forecasting, budgeting, management reporting).
  • Have worked on projects involving data analysis, and/or automation using AI tools (for example, building prompt‑based workflows).
  • Demonstrate curiosity, attention to detail, and a drive to deliver tangible, high‑quality outputs under time constraints.
