Iron Mountain is seeking a skilled and proactive Indirect Tax Senior Analyst to join our Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) Tax team on an 18-month fixed-term contract. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing Europe, Middle East, and Africa Value Added Tax (VAT) compliance, managing risks, and providing trusted internal tax advisory services to support our fast-paced multinational operations. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from home while collaborating closely with a dynamic team of finance professionals, external advisors, and shared service centres to streamline tax processes and drive continuous improvements across the region.
What You’ll Do (Core Responsibilities)
In this role, you will:
- Indirect Tax Advisory & Strategy: Support the business on the Value Added Tax (VAT) implications of service sales, purchases, supply chain activities, Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), and business expansions, while monitoring global tax developments.
- Compliance & Reporting Oversight: Review and approve European VAT returns, European Community (EC) sales lists, and Intrastat reports to ensure timely and accurate filing, while overseeing the periodic reconciliation of general ledger VAT accounts.
- Process & Systems Optimization: Manage the VAT aspects of Finance and Information Technology (IT) projects, such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation and E-Invoicing, to improve system capabilities and enhance data quality.
- Audit & Risk Management: Lead internal VAT audits, manage external tax authority audits, assess financial risks, establish relevant provisions, and maintain standard operating procedures for indirect tax reporting.
What You’ll Bring (Skills & Experience)
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience in managing VAT compliance, planning, and reporting within a complex, multinational organization.
- Strong knowledge of United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) accounting and consolidated financial statements.
- Deep technical expertise in ERP systems, report extraction, and leveraging Shared Service Centers (SSC) or external service providers.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex tax matters to non-tax business partners and tax authorities.
- A Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in accounting, finance, or a tax-related major, alongside professional accounting or tax qualifications.
