About Team:
REO (Reliability Engineering & Operations) is a horizontal function responsible for Site reliability across multiple business segments (Walmart US, Intl) through a set of core services:
- Command & Control Centre (Incident Management, & Production control)
- Service Management (Change & Problem Management)
- Site Reliability Engineering (Building and maintaining solutions for observability and recoverability)
- Performance Engineering (Site Performance Certification & Optimization)
What you'll do:
As a Command and Control Center (CCC) Technical Duty Officer(TDO) within the Omni Tech Group, you will work with other Technical Duty Officers(TDO) and Site Reliability Operators(SRO), SRE, DevOps and Engineering practitioners to manage mission-critical infrastructure, tools, and processes that will ensure highest levels of availability and reliability of all our websites.
- Play a critical role in shaping the product & technical vision for the team while working closely with product, business, and engineering leadership across the company on a regular basis.
- Mentor and lead a world class group of engineers.
- Nurture the culture of innovation, experimentation and fail fast.
- Interact ,Co-ordinate and Partner with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise
What you'll bring:
8+ years in an infrastructure, systems, engineering or development environment delivering operational excellence to highly complex distributed systems.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or relevant work experience.
Strong and demonstrable incident management skills with relevant experience in an enterprise organization.
Experience and exposure working in a 24/7 operations support environment.
Ability to supervise the Site Reliability Operations team, mentor and provide guidance.
Expert verbal and written communication skills.
Methodical and systematic problem solving approach, combined with a solid awareness of ownership, initiative and drive.
Experience investigating, analyzing and troubleshooting large scale enterprise systems.
Experience administering Unix/Linux in a production environment.
Understanding of Unix/Linux systems from kernel to shell and beyond, taking in system libraries, file systems, and client-server protocols along the way.
Working knowledge of BASH, Python or other scripting languages
Experience working with and developing enterprise monitoring/tooling solutions like Grafana, Prometheus, Kibana, Splunk, Graphite, Dynatrace, catchpoint.
Working knowledge of one or more cloud technologies such as AZURE, GCP and OpenStack.
Working and technical expertise in K8 and microservice architectures.
Networking knowledge and understanding of network concepts, such as different protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, etc.), MAC addresses, IP packets, DNS, OSI layers, and load balancing).
Demonstrate excellent judgement in decision making.
Strong focus on collecting and inferring metrics.
