Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for a Workday Solutions Architect to join our HR Technology Solutions Team based in Dania Beach, FL. This Solutions Architect position will enable and support business solutions across Human Capital Management with responsibilities spanning across business enablement, solution design, technical architecture, integrations, operations and support. This role will support and drive the implementation of new functionality and enhancements within Workday by understanding end user needs, building business cases, developing business and functional requirements, building streamlined and effective processes, supporting technical design, testing and deployment to provide a best-in-class user experience.

This role reports into the Director, HRIS and will act as the liaison between cross-functional business and technology teams and will be responsible for translating complex business needs to effective solution design to deliver quality HR system solutions. You will consult with HR areas to determine technology requirements that support business goals and translate those requirements into actionable project plans and HR system solutions, leveraging your deep expertise of both process and systems. You will provide overarching strategic guidance and leadership on HRIS projects to ensure a robust and complete solution that meets the requirements and allows for future enhancements with limited rework.

 What you'll do:

  • Define and shape the overall functional and business process architecture for Workday including modules such as HCM, Advanced Compensation, Benefits, Talent, Payroll, Absence, and Reporting
  • Act as primary authority on Workday configuration and customization; combining expert-level proficiency in Workday with the ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with Product Managers to turn broad requirements into deliverable work items
  • Act as the Workday lead for feature releases and issue resolution, working with business users, IT, vendors and other support teams to define scope, prioritize, plan and implement system changes and enhancements
  • Document requirements and technical specifications to support Workday and HR organizational needs for systems implementation, upgrades, and process improvements
  • Develop project plans using data gathered, constraints, and probable consequences. Ensure adherence to project schedule and other specifications
  • Manage project deliverables and milestones and specified project tasks
  • Identify test scenarios, develop test scripts, and provide key support in Systems Integration Testing (SIT)
  • Work directly with HR, technical staff and project teams to identify, analyze, design, test and implement new systems or improvements to existing systems and associated procedures
  • Help review communication and training materials in support of system navigation and changes
  • Document the landscape and design to facilitate maintenance, in partnership with IT
  • Conduct high level needs analysis and recommend service improvements to increase the efficiency of the Workday system
  • Review Workday releases for new functionality and optimize existing processes and integrations accordingly
  • Develop and maintain awareness of payroll industry to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
  • Participate in scheduled and ad hoc training in order to improve policy and process acumen
  • Provide day-to-day thought leadership and mentoring of the HRIS Functional Analysts, and train and mentor testers and program managers
  • Partner with IT to address system, interface, data and vendor issues

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Human Resources, Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 Years of Workday experience. Must have deep knowledge of the Workday suite of products. Workday certifications preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience working with integration-related technologies and concepts, such as: XML, XSLT, Soap, API, SFTP, EIB, Workday Studio experience working with bi-directional integrations
  • Knowledge of downstream integrations to gauge impact of changes, triage and remedy incidents and/or scope level of effort for new initiatives. These would include Active Directory, Okta, Kronos, Office 365, IDM tools, ServiceNow, Greenhouse, Kronos.
  • A solid understanding of trade-offs of architectural patterns and comfortable with recommending approaches and associated technology choices
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills - able to translate between technical and business groups, bring forward a vision or opinion
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy with ability to design and develop solutions to meet business needs creatively
  • Comfort with leading multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, prioritize decisions and tasks effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • In-depth system knowledge and demonstrated experience with architecture design, technical infrastructure/architecture and applied design principles
  • Expertise in agile software development methodologies and their adoption within teams
  • Experience implementing complex HR systems such as Workday (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Success Factors)
  • Knowledge and understanding of Business Intelligence concepts
  • The utmost passion for both technology and leadership
  • Customer Service focused approach to interactions with business partners and employee user community
  • Bonus points if you have configuration experience with the following:
    • Kronos Workforce Central or other time and attendance
    • Greenhouse ATS
    • Learning Management Systems (LMS) and processes
    • Service Now HR Helpdesk
