About the Role 


As the VP of People, you will play a pivotal role in helping Groove nurture and scale our incredible company culture, while implementing new processes to support our rapid growth. This is a new and important role at a formative time in our company’s growth trajectory. The VP of People will set a tone and example that will be followed for many years to come. As VP of People, you will lead the strategy and execution to help attract, develop, motivate, and retain Groove’s employees. You will serve as a champion for the company culture and will support the company executives, team leaders, and individual contributors with leadership and programs that enable the company to develop and grow quickly while remaining an enjoyable place to work. In this role, you will be responsible for all human resource-related activities, including the growth and support of our amazing team of Groovers. This is a full-time position, reporting directly to the CEO.



Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing policies and programs
  • Developing, monitoring, and implementing people management strategy
  • Partner with senior leadership to develop and drive HR strategy, tackling projects and programs at all levels
  • Oversee employee lifecycle events from onboarding to offboarding, including Performance Improvement Plans, separations, exit interviews, and turning feedback into actionable insights
  • Direct compensation and benefits programs for the company
  • Plan employee benefits, health and safety programs
  • Define and execute the employee experience
  • Promote and nurture a DEI culture within our organization 
  • Consult and advise leaders across multiple business units on all HR focus areas, including: recruitment, performance management & retention, compensation and rewards, DE&I, staff relations, benefits, training, and people development
  • Lead all efforts to scale the People Operations organization, its culture, and operations

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of HR experience building culture and leading teams at a high-growth technology start-up, with a strong focus on employee relations 
  • Experience partnering at the C-level, and working with senior leadership to empower, influence, and drive change
  • Depth of knowledge about HR practices and employment/labor legislation
  • Experience successfully designing and deploying new HR initiatives
  • Able to challenge conventional approaches and willing to build unique approaches 
  • Enjoy operating as much as strategizing, with proficiency in both strong communication skills, written and verbal 
  • A relevant degree or equivalent practical experience with proof of HR-related qualifications and experience in best practices
