Who we are:

Our Talent Strategy and Development enables Nationwide Technology to deliver on our promise to the enterprise through talent and information. We develop and reskill current associates through internal rotational programs and partnerships with Columbus State. We also enhance Nationwide Technology Entry-Level Talent Pipeline with traditional & non-traditional candidates that align to each organization's workforce planning aspirations through our internship program and with partnerships such as Per Scholas.

As a Technology Talent Development Manager, you will hire, manage, coach, deploy, and re-deploy both associates and contractors. Additionally, you will enable effective and efficient software delivery through technology readiness and mature practices. In this role, you will also ensure the right resources are aligned with the right work and are focused on building and implementing best practices across the Nationwide Technology and Digital community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing technologists that come through the talent pipeline programs. Provide consistent coaching and feedback, and partner with leaders across Nationwide Technology to assign talent with project and planning initiatives.
  • Partner with Talent Strategy and Development leadership team to mature the traditional and non-traditional pipeline programs
  • Manages supplier relationships to ensure that pipeline and talent management, on-boarding and transition management are performed consistently.
  • Responsible for the relationships with technology leaders and business partner for resource staffing and performance management of staff.
  • Provides direction for their team and technology professionals.
  • Provides leadership, governance and inspires technology professionals to achieve software delivery goals through innovation, quality and excellence.



Ideal candidates will have:

  • proven background in talent development, mentoring and coaching.
  • excellent problem solving skills
  • good understanding of key technologies, delivery practices, and tableau is a plus



This role is currently working in a hybrid capacity. It collaborates in office with the team a few days every other week. Subject to change.

As a Software Engineering People & Practice Leader you'll hire, manage, coach, deploy and re-deploy both associate and contractors. You'll also enable effective and efficient software delivery through technology readiness and mature practices by ensuring the right resources are aligned with the right work and build and implement standard methodologies across the Software Engineering community.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs resource management responsibility for associates and/or contractors. This includes resource assignment, training, workflow management, hiring and placement.
  • Drives variable capacity management for agile teams through staff augmentation, managed capacity and flexible associate line/team staffing.
  • Defines proper contractor use models for agile teams. Assesses onshore/offshore contractor model usage on agile teams and adoption of best practices.
  • Manages supplier relationship to ensure that pipeline and talent management, onboarding and transition management are performed consistently.
  • Manages the relationships with technology leaders, business partners and other customers for resource staffing and performance management of staff.
  • Partners with Talent Strategy and Development leadership team to mature the traditional and non-traditional pipeline programs.
  • Provides leadership, governance and encourages technology professionals to achieve software delivery goals through innovation, quality and excellence.


May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Technology Director or above; manages a team of five or more technology professionals.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, mathematics or related field is strongly preferred. Technology certifications are desired.

Experience: Three years of people management/leadership experience and eight years of Technology experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven problem-solving skills, ability to influence and drive strong partnerships and detail oriented. Insurance/financial services experience a plus

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager's leader and Human Resources Business Partner.

Job Conditions:

Overtime Eligibility: Not Eligible (Exempt)

Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Associates may have on-call responsibility after normal working hours and/or on weekends.
