A DAY IN THE LIFE:

The Sr. Human Resources Business Partner I (Sr. HRBP) will be responsible for delivering HR expertise and strategic leadership to the business. The Sr. HRBP will act as a strategic partner to the business in the areas of workforce planning, employee relations, performance management, talent reviews and management, succession planning, development and recruiting activities,and assist in other HR functions as assigned.

YOU'RE AWESOME AT:

  • Drives initiatives spanning organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, and skills assessment and development.
  • Consults with various departments to resolve challenges and develop HR based solutions to strategic and tactical business problems.
  • Develops new programs and initiatives to address, evaluate, and accommodate special challenges, including employee retention, employee relations, and recognition.
  • Provides coaching, counseling, and mentoring to managers, supervisors, and staff.
  • Counsels employees concerning work-related issues.
  • Conducts needs assessments and analyses to identify performance challenges; processes disciplinary action, terminations, and exit interviews as needed.
  • Identifies and resolves sensitive situations/issues relating to HR processes and practices; investigates and resolves employee issues and concerns to address root causes of human resources issues, documenting and escalating as appropriate.
  • Partners with Talent Acquisition in meeting staffing needs; interviews candidates as needed, participates in feedback meetings for candidate selection, and partners in the creation of employment offers.
  • Participates in conjunction with other members of HR leadership, in the creation and development of the Company's Performance Review process. Analyzes supervisors' reviews for appropriateness and legal compliance and provides feedback, as necessary, to ensure a positive dialogue between supervisor and employee.
  • Creates and maintains job descriptions reflecting job responsibilities, duties and requirements and assist with determining proper FLSA classification.
  • Works closely with members of the HRIS, benefits, and compensation teams.
  • Develops and acts as a mentor for more junior members of the HR team.
  • Partners with various departments to identify training needs and solutions for employee development, and proposes training /education solutions which meet requirements and available budget.
  • Identifies areas of process improvement and works with management to implement solutions.
  • May lead cross-function projects such as process improvements, strategic workforce planning, succession planning, system configuration/enhancements and various other HR initiatives.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, including Privacy/HIPAA, and other legal and regulatory requirements.



EXTRA AWESOME:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, emphasis in Human Resources or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.
  • PHR or SPHR strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of Human Resources progressive generalist experience that supports company business objectives including 5+ years' primary emphasis in Employee Relations, Performance Management and Training.
  • Experience in a high volume, fast-paced medical device, biotech, or pharmaceutical environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of California and Federal employment laws with multi-state employer experience.
  • Must have the ability to be an individual contributor, collaborative team member and HR resource.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to both listen to and influence others.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel, Word, & PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of HRIS and computer based performance appraisal systems.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member, and interact with all levels of employees and management.
  • Ability to dive into details, translate and statistically analyze data, and effectively report results through written and/or graphical formats.
  • Ability to diagnose problems and identify and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to facilitate large or small group meetings and manage conflict resolution.
  • A positive approach to people and problem solutions along with a strong sense of discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional project teams.
