What you'll be doing
As a member of embark’s people team your overarching goal is to support the business in accomplishing our vision to be the best possible place for all of us to work. Your focus as the people operations senior manager will be to create an unparalleled experience for our teams, while we attract, hire, engage, develop, reward and support them.

Essential Functions

  • Partner with the talent acquisition team on designing job descriptions and issuing and managing acceptance of offer letters to future embarkers
  • Coordinate pre-boarding and onboarding activities with the people engagement team members
  • Ensure federal and state compliance with employee hiring documentation
  • Oversee adherence to all state and federal labor laws
  • Manage, communicate and grow embark’s amazing benefits package
  • Ensure embark is competitively remunerating and rewarding our employees
  • Design and maintain embark’s written guardrails (sometimes called a handbook by non embarkers) for our team members to have an amazing experience
  • Collaborate with embark leadership across all functions and teams to ensure adherence to all state and federal hiring laws
  • Manage embarker’s files in our people information system (i.e. Paylocity, Workday, or other system)
  • Collaborate with the people performance and development teams
  • Work with execution, business development and finance teams
  • Ensure embark’s culture thrives and that all embarkers feel part of the team
  • Care for all your teammates
  • Develop yourself as aggressively as you help develop others
  • Challenge the status quo

What you'll bring to the table

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification a plus
  • Minimum of five years of experience working in a people operations (traditional businesses refer to this as HR) role
  • High emotional intelligence
  • Highly collaborative and works well with all levels of experience across various business functions
  • Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to translate business requirements into solutions
  • Ability to lead internal initiatives from initiation to completion
  • Prior experience in the professional services industry is a plus
  • Prior experience with HRIS, LMS and other people management softwares is a plus
  • High level of integrity when handling confidential information
  • A proactive, self-directed approach and the ability to learn quickly with limited instruction
  • A growth mindset, positive mental attitude, the ability to ideate and a willingness to make mistakes fast and learn from them
