The People team at Coursera is responsible for building our teams, retaining our amazing talent, and developing programs that create community and promote employee betterment. Coursera is looking for a Manager, People Development Programs to shape and deliver our global people development and management programs. This role will work with the Head of Employee Experiences, Inclusion and Development (EEID) to create and translate people development programs into an impactful employee experience. This collaborative role will work closely with Diversity, Equity & inclusion, Employee Engagement and Experiences, and People Leadership team enabling Courserians to learn, grow, and transform into their best selves in service of the Coursera community.


This role will require experience creating and leading across several programs moving in parallel. You will communicate with all organizational levels and have an appetite for building people interventions that are directly connected to Coursera’s business strategy and offerings. You will partner with senior leaders across the organization and the People and Places team to provide expertise and consultation in people development, DEI, talent reviews & assessment, performance management, employee sentiment strategy, and change management. As a people leader, you will also need experience leading and developing an impactful team.

Responsibilities:

  • Design an integrated People Development strategy, including a comprehensive, global approach for developing, assessing, planning and leading talent across Coursera
  • Develop, program manage, evolve and scale for growth several people development experiences aligned to our business goals and product strategy.
  • Deploy learning and development resources to influence our organizational talent strategy, including leadership development and remote working principles
  • Ensure the development, integration, and agreement of inclusive approaches to all people development programs
  • Partner with internal business units, including Product and Enterprise teams, to focus on high-quality learning and development experiences, through our platform, to drive learning outcomes for both internal and external impact
  • Collaboratively evolve our workforce planning and employee sentiment strategy and tools.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of business experience working in a learning, development and/or talent management role within a global organization, including 3+ years of people leadership responsibility
  • Demonstrated history of project/program management skills with demonstrated good judgment, innovative thought-leadership, ability to prioritize and creativity
  • Experience designing and deploying data-driven, global people development strategies that drive impact across various levels, regions and job functions
  • Demonstrated history coaching and developing leaders and advising action in sensitive or ambiguous situations, including inclusive behaviors, feedback, or learning competency
  • Experience with facilitation and internal/external presenting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strategic mindset with a bias towards action and creative problem-solving
  • Experience working in matrixed and lean organizations, with a preference for Education, Education Technology or related field
  • Strong collaborator and influencer - ability to reach beyond the immediate scope to influence and lead change initiatives with multiple senior stakeholders
  • Highly effective communicator with the ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex ideas, unique concepts, and proposals to enroll team, peers, and management. Excellent writing and presentation skills.
