Mission of the Position
Plans, organizes, directs and controls the operations of Human Resources at the Engineering Center / Group Office. Develops and administers policies, programs and procedures regarding human resource planning, compensation and benefit administration.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure build-up and/or maintenance of staffing targets in alignment with business plan.
  • Develops and administers various human resources policies, programs and procedures for all site employees - including payroll, benefit/compensation administration, immigration and global mobility .
  • Contributes to long term strategic planning regarding the site's human resource needs - plans, organizes and directs department goals, objectives and systems.
  • Organization and support of the management in execution of employee opinion surveys, including communication, action plans and improvement tracking.
  • Builds a strong business relationship with assigned business functions providing day-to-day generalist and point-of-contact support.
  • Partners with leaders to build talent capability through career experiences, development opportunities and robust plans, training and mentoring engagements.
  • Provides guidance, expertise and support to managers on performance counseling, disciplinary actions, investigations, organization restructuring, and workforce analysis - ensuring consistency.
  • Serve as a key resource to employees answering questions, facilitating career discussions and development opportunities.
  • Supports the regional/global talent review process, head-count management and succession planning for the team.
  • Collaborate with Magna HR managers and functional partners to execute human resources strategies and annual initiatives (compensation, benefits, employee engagement, performance management and training & development) to meet business objectives and support future business growth.
  • Works closely with management and employee to facilitate change initiatives, build engagement, and increase productivity and retention.
  • OverseePrepares and delivers presentations for managers and employee on a variety of HR-related topics.
  • Analyzes HR trends and metrics to create HR program and policy solutions; makes changes when necessary to maintain competitiveness.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance
  • Fully understands organizational structure, jobs and job content/requirements in assigned area. Performs job evaluations, determines proper job classifications, and makes salary change recommendations.
  • Establishes and administers programs and procedures to maintain/improve employee morale and productivity.
  • Provides guidance, counsel, and problem-solving support to Managers, team leaders, and individuals for human resource/employee relations issues.
  • Administers the company's Performance Review program to ensure its effectiveness, compliance, and equity throughout the company.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned at management's discretion.
  • Calculate and report HR metrics including but not limited to headcount, turnover and recruitment
  • Provide support, guideance and leadership to HR team members
  • Participates in the creation of the annual HR budget
  • Maintains employee handbook in accordance with Magna process

  • Health & Safety responsibilities:
    • Understands and enforces Environmental, Health & Safety policies, procedures and rules.
    • Involved in accident / incident investigation, reporting and corrective actions.
    • Reviews safety incidents, memos, etc. with employees.
    • Train new employees.
    • Correct unsafe acts and conditions.
    • Ensure use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
    • Assess employee safety performance as part of performance appraisal.
  • Create a positive work environment by demonstrating and sharing functional/technical knowledge.
  • Develop and maintain a responsive and cooperative working relationship with internal and external customers.
  • Treat everyone with dignity, trust and respect.
  • Complete additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • A Bachelors-level degree in Human Resources, Business or related field is required.
  • Master's degree in HR, Psychology, Organizational Development, or MBA a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in progressively responsible HR roles.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in employee or labor relations.
  • Minimum 3 year of expereince in a supervisory role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational change/reorg, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and local, state and federal employment laws.
  • General understanding of the OSHA laws and regulations.
  • Solid understanding of HR information systems. Workday experience a plus.
  • Ability to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company, establishing trust of employees and leadership.
  • Time management skills and ability to work within deadlines is essential.
  • Proficient working with numbers, financial information and analyzing data.
  • Ability to respond to employee/manager inquiries in an effective and timely manner.
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations, conflict management and handling disciplinary matters.
  • Confident in decision making ability.
  • Ability to prioritize work and delegate when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and confidence.
  • Maintain confidential/sensitive employee and business information.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Work Environment
Office environment; 10% travel required.
While working in this environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes and various levels of temperature created by manufacturing processes.
