Primary Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Sr. HR Manager, Operations Excellence (CI) is to act as a regional (multi-site) HR support resource. This role will flex often to support the local HR and operational needs across our DC network, primarily in KeHE's west coast and central region, largely driven by periods of significant growth, urgent or unexpected business needs and/or vacancy within a local HR team. Additional responsibilities will include assisting to train, coach and mentor local HR teams and supporting process improvement and change management efforts for local, regional or enterprise-wide HR strategies. This individual will report to the Sr. HR Director for our Central Region, and can be based near any of the following KeHE Distribution Center locations; Phoenix, AZ, Chino or Stockton, CA, Aurora, CO, Dallas, TX or the Chicagoland area. Candidates interested in this position must be willing to travel at least 60% of the time on a regular basis and able to flex up for periods of time if/when extenuating circumstances arise. Will have flexibility to work remote when not traveling.

The successful candidate for this position is a seasoned and highly self-motivated HR business partner with experience and comfort in a warehouse distribution and/or manufacturing environment, interacting at all levels in the organization from hourly associates to senior leadership. This person thrives on challenge, welcomes the unexpected and builds immediate rapport, trust and confidence of others when walking into a new situation.

Essential Functions

  • Act as interim HR Manager across various locations, as determined by business need, to ensure continuity of HR leadership and support to our employees and Operations leaders under all circumstances, minimizing disruption to the business
  • Lead all core HR Manager responsibilities during interim assignments, which may include staffing, new hire on-boarding, employee relations, performance management, oversight of day-to-day HR operations, and leadership to local HR team
  • Build relationships, trust and credibility with local business and HR leaders to ensure understanding of unique differences/needs across DC's
  • Communicate/escalate opportunities to improve HR processes, tools, resources and support to Regional HR leader as appropriate in an effort to identify and initiative continuous improvement projects
  • Partner with HR Ops leaders to develop, execute and continuously improve our HR on-boarding, training and development, resources and tools to build a strong and high performing HR team across all locations
  • Provide informal mentorship to new HR team members across sites, acting as sounding boarding and leveraging regional or national level insights to help guide team members
  • Lead various projects to support growth and/or or change initiatives. Partner closely with local, regional and national HR counterparts to align key resources and support as required. Play key role in setting goals, tracking and reporting progress, and helping to remove barriers to ensure success
  • Act as support resource for regional and/or national level HR initiatives - assisting local teams on adoption, implementation, and helping to remove possible barriers to success (i.e. roll out of a new training or compliance requirement)

Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude

  • Minimum 7+ years HR Manager experience, preferably having led a small HR team
  • Distribution and/or Manufacturing human resources experience highly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or a related field
  • PHR/SPHR preferred
  • Must be willing to travel frequently, estimated 60% minimum and more when business needs require (i.e. interim assignment or start up support)

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to interact with and influence across hourly associates and leadership
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions across multiple modes of communication
  • Ability to work comfortably and successfully under pressure with competing business priorities
  • Able and willing to flex and adapt priorities to business needs often with little notice
  • Strong project management, ability to effectively communicate across key stakeholders and document/present high level progress on initiatives
  • Contribute and support to the overall goals of the business and HR function flexing to meet the most critical business/HR needs
  • Capability of prioritizing and handling multiple projects simultaneously, under tight time constraints

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $88,500 to $114,000 based on qualifications and experience. This role is also eligible to participate in the annual incentive plan with a target incentive of 15% of your base annual salary.
