Who we are looking for
The Sr. Employee Relations Manager (ERM) leads a team of ER Specialists and ER Managers who provide advice and counsel to business partners, conduct workplace investigations, and provide proactive solutions to guarantee adherence with Nike Inc. policies, practices, and values. The Sr. ERM is responsible for conducting complex investigations, developing their team, and fostering strong partnerships with stakeholders (i.e., Human Resources and Business leaders) to develop strategies that support organization health. In this role, the Sr. ERM contributes subject matter expertise to internal projects, team development/performance, and training content for ER specific trainings conducted within the business.
What you will work on
As a member of the ER Center of Excellence (COE), the Sr. ER Manager serves as a subject matter authority and first point of escalation when complex workplace issues arise. The Sr. ER Manager demonstrates leadership and initiative by mentoring others, providing resources, and using sound judgment to suggest proactive solutions to address business needs. They lead a team of Specialists and Managers which involves case reviews, compliance with ER Service Level Agreements, and performance management as well as managing their own caseload.

Sr. ER Managers approach their work proactively and in a consultative manner by educating employees and managers enabling them to make decisions that provide a fair and consistent employment experience throughout the organization, thereby stewarding the employment and cultural brand of NIKE, Inc. They apply analytics to engage in proactive practices to reduce the total number of complaints received and to improve organizational health.

The Sr. ER Manager will conduct workplace investigations, present investigation findings, and provide recommendations to influence business leaders and partners to make decisions that align with Nike Inc. policies and procedures. They will conduct training on Employee Relations policies/processes, work on projects, calibrate cases with ER Team Members and use data to identify trends. Other duties as assigned.
Who you will work with
Sr. Employee Relations Managers work with members of the ER team on a day-to-day basis as well as employees at all levels of the organization to include HR partners, business leaders and other COE partners. Sr. Employee Relations Managers report to an Employee Relations Director and lead a team of Specialists and Managers.

What you bring
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Labor/Industrial Relations, Business, or combination of relevant education, experience, and training

Three (3) years of experience managing, leading, and developing teams

Five to seven (5-7) years of experience in an HR Generalist, ER, or a related role conducting investigations related to Federal, State, Local employment, and Labor laws for a multi-site organization
Required skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of workplace complaint investigations, union avoidance, employee advocacy and EEO compliance
  • Demonstrated success in influencing employees at all levels of the organization in a consultative methodology
  • Solid understanding of Federal and State Employment & Labor Laws
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (i.e., investigation reports and case summaries)
  • Facilitation skills (in person and/or virtual)
  • Organizational skills: including the ability to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines, as well as multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Technically proficient in MS Word, Excel, & PowerPoint
  • Ability to establish trust and credibility
  • Communicate effectively and remain calm under pressure and in difficult situations
  • Maintain confidentiality with critical information

Preferred experience:

  • Advanced degree or other specialized training in Labor Relations/ER or combination of relevant education, experience, and training
  • Certification in Human Resources
  • Partner and work with remote locations including different time zone and/or countries
  • Previous experience in HR including performance management, org health, compliance, leave of absence, and accommodations
  • Experience using case management system
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred, but not required
