Overview

As a Principal Human Resources Business Partner (PHRBP), you will be a member of the bank's Human Resources (HR) department. This role will play a critical role in supporting and advising the bank's Blue Ridge Region and Business Services leadership team. The PHRBP will play an integral role in developing strategic, innovative solutions and achieving organizational goals that positively impact business and financial results. The position consults on complex, high level HR-related matters, providing guidance to managers and employees at the highest level of expertise and confidentiality. The PHRBP also partners with key HR stakeholders on matters such as compensation, benefits, succession planning, talent development, and talent acquisition. The role assists senior and executive management with wider organizational initiatives that create value for the Bank. Lastly, the PHRBP provides leadership and direction to other HR associates on policies, programs, or complex matters.

Responsibilities

  • Consultation - Provides consultation and acts as the expert on complex employee relations matters. Promotes integrated, seamless, and comprehensive support across assigned regions or departments, specializing in high level or executive issues. Acts as a liaison between the line of business and HR to ensure alignment with internal client needs.
  • Business Strategy - Drives change, encourages flexibility, and facilitates continuous improvement in support of evolving HR and business needs. Champions diversity, inclusion, affirmative action, and new opportunities for HR to add value to the Bank. Guides senior and executive management in aligning department objectives with wider organizational strategies.
  • Business Support - Leads talent assessment, talent development, and related HR programs that improve associate experience while creating value for the Bank. Supports managers in workforce planning and related initiatives to expand manager capabilities. Identifies areas of opportunity and improvement within HR processes through trend analysis, associate feedback, and exit interviews. Develops, implements, and leads process improvements and other special projects to drive simplification and create efficiencies. Provides guidance and direction to less experienced HR associates.
  • Risk Mitigation - Identifies business risks tied to human capital and partners with leaders to create mitigation strategies. Engages on high level employee relations issues as needed.


Preferred Locations: Raleigh, NC; Asheville, NC; Charlotte, NC

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of experience in Human Resources consulting or as a Human Resources business partner.

OR

High School Diploma or GED and 15 years of experience in Human Resources consulting or as a Human Resources business partner.

Additional Requirements:
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations, and of current HR trends.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize data to make informed business recommendations.
  • Effective strategic thinking skills resulting in creative solutions to achieve business results.
  • Demonstrates executive presence and portrays strong communication skills at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships focused on collaborative partnerships.
  • Computer skills - MS Office.
  • Complete Civil Treatment for Leaders (CTL) Certification after start date.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Financial Services industry experience (strongly preferred).
  • Retail Banking line of business support experience (strongly preferred).
  • Experience leading through prior merger acquisitions.
  • SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certified.
