Medtronic is looking for a dynamic and strategic Principal of Human Resources Communications to join our Corporate Communications Center of Excellence team. In this role, you will support global communications for our HR programs. As a key team member, you will be responsible for managing the strategic direction, development, and effective execution of the communications strategy in the areas of performance management, benefits, and compensation.

A Day in the Life• Develops and executes communications strategies supporting our key human resources programs including performance management, benefits, and compensation• Leverages communications to convey messages to inform, motivate, and recognize global audiences• Maintains strong relationships with leaders to support effective communications and provides counsel and coaching to ensure effective communication to employees• Analyzes effectiveness of communications efforts, governs, and improves communications processes• Demonstrates strong skills to shape messages, create and activate communication channels, develop strategic communication plans, and provide insights and information at both the strategic and tactical levels• Supports leadership in communicating key change initiatives, policy changes and other company information to employees• Uses communications to help build a motivating culture• Partners with Corporate Communications to create strategic recommendations and plans to proactively advance the Medtronic brand for current and prospective employees• Directly manages communications activities that promote, enhance, and protect the organization's reputation to both internal and external audiences• Handles the creation and implementation of multiple forms of internal strategic communication activities, programs and content guided by the Medtronic Mission and overall business strategy

Must Haves• Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of progressive responsibility in the communications field, in either a corporate environment or agency, or advanced degree and 5+ years of experience• Experience supporting human resources communications

Nice to Have• Strong written and interpersonal communications skills essential• Robust storytelling capabilities • Excellent stakeholder management and strategic communications counseling skills• Solid project and time management skills; must be able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and shift focus adeptly • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organization• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or other associated field of study; post-graduate or professional degree • Problem-solving and negotiation skills• Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information• Ability to engage, brief, and manage third-party vendors • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, experience with Salesforce.com, Eloqua or other eMarketing platforms a plus
