About You and The Role

As a People Partner, you will become an expert in our business and become a strategic thought partner for our leaders that will help the business navigate through the growth ahead of us.

You will be trusted with the responsibility of driving a high performance culture within the Engineering team and the business. Additionally, you’ll be involved in helping to strategize and drive successful People programs such as performance snapshots, compensation reviews and equity refreshes. 

What You'll Do  

  • Build trusted relationships with the leaders of the Engineering team by learning what makes their team tick and how to proactively suggest future process improvements 
  • Act as a coach, partner, confidante and accelerate of the Engineering organization
  • Become an expert on the business and the unique challenges Zipline faces as we scale and disrupt the way we think about supply chain/logistics
  • Partner closely with Engineering leads by providing guidance and holding them accountable for high performing teams that do amazing work, on time
  • Be a cultural pillar. That means you live Zipline’s values and help leads to incorporate them into their conversations around engagement, coaching & development and performance management
  • Work closely with leads on effective headcount planning and organizational design
  • Coach leads regarding the importance of effective onboarding for new hires/internal transfers and holding leads accountable to developing these plans
  • Hold leads accountable for creating an unforgettable end to end employee experience (from new hires to internal transfers) where their teams feel valued and included 
  • Provide leads with the tools on how to provide clear and actionable performance feedback to everyone on their team through micro and macro feedback
  • Give direct feedback and coaching to leaders when they aren’t meeting Zipline’s leadership expectations
  • Drive company-wide performance calibrations and compensation reviews, ensuring a fair and equitable process
  • Design intentional and scalable HR processes that work for our unique business
  • Help to keep Zipline compliant with labor laws and regulations
  • Assess team member concerns and complaints and work closely with legal counsel to conduct thorough, unbiased investigations and recommended outcomes

What You'll Bring 

  • 4+ years of experience in an HR Business Partner or People Partner role
  • Previous experience supporting and/or collaborating with an Engineering organization is preferred
  • Able to build strong relationships and earn trust at with team members all throughout the organization
  • Has conviction when it comes to always making the right decision for the business
  • Solid intuition on how to drive organization change in order to improve performance
  • Ability to spot and help solve humans working with humans problems
  • Physically accessible and approachable, there is no better way to keep your finger on the pulse of your business than by keeping yourself actively involved in your team and the company's  day-to-day affairs
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver constructive messages to leaders directly
  • Able to cut through complex issues and find simple solutions
  • Has demonstrated a high level of discretion with sensitive people information
  • Can act impartially and objectively
  • Organized and dependable

This role is based in South San Francisco.
