Role Overview
We're excited to welcome the role of Director of People Operations to our growing company! The Director of People Operations will own and implement programs that nurture employee engagement and will maintain compliance, as we continue to grow and scale at Overhaul. This individual should have a passion for all things people and should have a genuine appreciation and understanding that people are the true competitive advantage and the foundation of a company’s success.
In this role, you will lead People Operations related projects, including global employment law compliance, benefits programs, and employee value proposition initiatives. You ideally have experience owning key People Operations functions end-to-end and are driven to provide empathetic support for your teams, while leading strategic people-first programs in a growing global company. This role reports to the Chief People Officer.
What You'll Do:
- Lead a team responsible for progressive, proactive people-related initiatives, including employee engagement; global compliance; diversity, inclusion, and belonging; compensation and benefits; incentives; engagement; retention; learning and development; and employee relations
- Lead People Compliance, ensuring compliant processes and alignment with local and international employment laws and regulations. Continually maintain in-depth knowledge of local, federal, and global employment laws to lead the organization’s compliance
- Provide People Operations leadership and support with respect to day-to-day life cycle activities of our “internal customers”, including onboarding, the employee journey, and offboarding.
- Enhance the Overhaul culture by developing effective programs and initiatives that keep our employees engaged and closely knit, especially in a remote-first work environment
- Serve as a trusted resource to managers and employees, guiding them through career development and interpersonal conversations
- Own and evolve our people tech stack including payroll, HRIS, engagement, and performance management systems to ensure integrated systems scale efficiently as our company continues to scale
- Track people data and analytics to continually ensure data-informed decision-making, incorporating qualitative and quantitative feedback from engagement surveys, 1:1s, and other sources into creating innovative and empathetic people programs
- Evaluate the competitive landscape and create strategies to adapt to changing market trends to ensure that our compensation and benefits offerings remain highly competitive
- Lead our Benefits Specialist in yearly open enrollment process, payroll, and benefits administration; help evaluate new vendors and partners as necessary
- Coordinate and support new People program implementations
- Create and manage streamlined processes and ensure alignment with key stakeholders inside and outside the People Team (Talent Acquisition Enablement, Payroll, Stock Administration, Finance)
- Ensure the maintenance and accuracy of HR data, including data audits
- Assess/identify HR strategy, policy, and process improvements
- Provide leadership an oversight of business expansion solutions, ensuring scalability and alignment with company vision and values
What We're Looking For:

- 8+ years previous experience in a People/Human Resources/Organizational Development function within high-growth, early stages progressing global organizations; 3+ years in a People Operations Leadership role
- In-depth understanding of global HR best practices, with the ability to move seamlessly from strategy development to execution
- Demonstrated success in owning global employment law compliance
- Proven ability to develop engaged people teams
- High level of integrity and ability to use good judgment
- Strong people management and coaching skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrable ability to be highly resourceful, with stellar execution skills (strategy through implementation) and demonstrable track record of leading and influencing through consultative skills
- Successful M&A Experience
- Strategic, practical, and innovative thinker and people first mentality in decision-making
- Ability to successfully collaborate with international teams
