Description

Payroll/HR Specialist

Location: Memphis, TN

Travel: Less than 5%

1. Role Responsibility
The Payroll Operations/Human Resource Specialist is responsible for the execution and administration of all payroll and onboarding related activities. Successfully expedites payroll operations and strategies through procedures and activities that provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers as in accordance with Buckman's mission and core values.

2. Outcomes • Ensures a safety first and risk reduction mindset within all responsibilities.• Ensures the accuracy and timely processing of all payroll and vendor files by properly calculating and deducting appropriate amounts from payroll checks, including tax withholdings and garnishments.• Support and maintain Dayforce HCM, including Employee Self-Service for Time Away from Work requests and Time/Attendance; act as first point of contact for all Associates in the use of Dayforce HCM.• Develop standing/recurring and ad hoc Payroll data reports in Dayforce HCM to meet requests by Company Management and/or as required by government entities, workers' compensation insurance companies, or other external parties; export Payroll data and provide proper reports and analysis.• Maintain Payroll and personal email box to ensure timely response to inquiries and concerns • Ensure timeliness and thoroughness within various payroll functions performed for the US & Canada. • Delivers new strategies for payroll processing and onboarding activities.• Using ATS (Jobvite) implement Onboarding procedures for all new hires including background screening, reference checks and verifying all candidate and manager tasks to complete onboarding process.• Maintains and administers BuStar Program.• Delivers exceptional customer services standards.• Contribute to company's change methodology (CI) as needed. • Resolve issues and concerns as they arise with various carriers for all group policies. • Timely completion of Development Plan and KPM items.

3. Main Success Metrics• Effective facilitation of payroll administration, human resource activities and process management• Customer Service Quality - Timeliness of addressing associate concerns and quality of service provided• Master Data Accuracy for Payroll and Human Resource data• Compliance with processes, systems and controls and adherence to deadlines• Team collaboration effectiveness• Successful HR, Payroll processing / administration with minimal errors

4. Main Decision-Making Rights• Decision making authority (D)
- Appropriate communication, process and procedure to utilize based on
the situation
- Day-to-day customer and vendor decisions.
- Vendor Billing Payments
- Day-to-day decisions related to the administration of payroll
- Updates or changes to associate records and within Dayforce HCM
and third-party systems
- Appropriate communication, process, and procedure to utilize for
Associates.

5. Competencies: • Aligns execution of Payroll and Onboarding activities with management's expectations• Expertise in various areas of Payroll Administration• Ability to interact professionally and constructively with associates at all levels in an immersive, fast paced environment• Ability to analyze and explain complex concepts clearly and thoroughly• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work with people at all levels of an organization• Apply principles of Payroll Administration to solve complex matters as they arise• Thoroughly research and conclude amongst an extensive variety of laws and governmental compliance regulations• Proficiency using software programs such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint • Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and constructively• Ability to multi-task while working independently or collaboratively• Strong analytical and interpersonal skills

6. Minimum requirements to apply
Must have had successful experiences:• Demonstrated payroll administration and process improvement.• Effective results with analyzing and improving processes.• Ability to effectively work with senior management to enforce policies and standards • Demonstrated positive support of HR and company vision • Successful project coordination, participation and execution

Must have these Competencies:• 4+ years of experience administering Payroll processes in a high-volume multi-state environment with both Salaried (exempt) and Hourly (non-exempt) paid Associates.• Experience in both US and Canada payroll and taxation• Thorough knowledge of Payroll tax laws• Clear understanding of how Payroll processing/data impacts the Company's general ledger• Ability to work across Departmental (finance, HR, IT) lines and as a part of cross-functional teams• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel• Effective oral and written communication skills • Detail-oriented and highly organized
• Knowledge of, and experience with, Ceridian Dayforce HCM and SAP HCM is preferred• Certified Payroll Professional designation is preferred

7. Position Details• Forty-hour work week during daytime (8:30am to 5pm) and if needed evening and weekend hours. • Overtime may be required or permitted with prior approval. • Position has no supervisory responsibilities. • December vacation hours will be limited due to the business-critical needs of this position
