Responsibilities

Works to ensure the overall mission of aligning business objectives with Employees and Leaders in designated department(s) is successful. Also serves as a consultant to Leadership on Human Resources related issues. Partners with People Department Centers of Excellence to deliver Positively Outrageous Service to all Employees.

WORK ACTIVITIES/CONTENT:
• Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description.
• May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders.
• Leads a Team of HR Business Partners or Associate HR Business Partners, providing performance counsel, development and role support.
• Advises Leadership on Human Resources related activities such as: strategic staffing, talent and performance management, and compensation administration.
• Acts as a consultant to department Leaders by analyzing People issues such as retention and morale and recommending solutions in partnerships with People Department Centers of Excellence.
• Works closely with Employees and acts as an advocate to improve work relationships and resolve non-Labor related Employee issues. Answers requests for Guidelines for Employees interpretation and routine Human Resources related questions.
• Provides guidance and input on department succession planning in partnership with the Talent Management.
• Works on or may lead special and/or enterprise level projects in conjunction with People Department Centers of Excellence.
• Serves as a mentor to all levels of Human Resource Business Partners.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Required

High School Diploma or GED

Required

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience

WORK EXPERIENCE:
• 8 years of work experience with a minimum of 5 years in multiple Human Resources related functions.
• 2 years direct / indirect leadership experience.
• Must have demonstrated experience working with all levels of Employees.
• Demonstrated experience with airline operations preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES/WORK STYLE:
• Must be an effective communicator with excellent written, oral, and presentation skills.
• Must have a highly developed business acumen.
• Must have a working knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws.
• Must be able to effectively partner with Southwest's Labor Relations Teams.
• Must have a working knowledge of Southwest's Guidelines for Employees and Southwest's Affirmative Action program.
• Must have advanced skills in Microsoft Office including: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Must have the ability to bring credibility to the Embedded Human Resources function through Leadership ability, human resources knowledge, strength at building relationships and integrity.
• Must have judgment sufficient to handle & resolve complex employment issues and be able to interface well with people at all levels within the Company.
• Ability to flourish in a Team environment.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.
