Immigration Specialist
We’re seeking a Global Mobility and Immigration Specialist to join us in our company’s mission to improve human health and quality of life through the development, distribution, and application of advanced computational methods!
The ideal candidate will be an immigration expert as well as a strategic partner in a matrixed organization with a proven record of developing exceptional HR practices. We seek someone with strong experience navigating all aspects of immigration for both current and prospective employees. The role will focus on U.S. immigration but will also support recruiting to help attract qualified candidates by facilitating immigration processes, and partnering with finance, payroll, legal, recruiting, and HR on global assignments, transfers and relocations. This role can be based in New York City or Portland, Oregon.

What you’ll do:
- Responsible for full immigration case cycle – initiation through issuance of green card, including collaborating with outside counsel to prepare and file cases.
- Primary contact for inquiries from managers, employees, and the recruiting team related to US immigration
- Assist with global assignments, policy, procedures, relocation, or tax-related questions
- Lead trainings for employees, managers, and leadership to better understand immigration requirements and resources available
- Oversee daily administration of U.S. immigration-related tasks
- Monitor progress for all U.S. immigration cases together with external immigration counsel, identify long-term sponsorship issues, and communicate risk to HR and manager
- Help advise managers and employees about the global assignment and transfers process
- Create and refine programming to maintain a strong, uplifting, highly collaborative environment
What you’ll need:
- Knowledge of US immigration (knowledge of non-US immigration helpful)
- At least three years of experience working in an in-house corporate immigration environment
- Knowledge of the global assignment life cycle and experience planning and working on assignments.
- Experience administering a global relocation program
- Ability to explain technical and legal processes in a way that non-immigration professionals can understand
- Bachelor's degree
- Familiarity with O-1 visa processes preferred
- Some knowledge of expat tax preferred
