Immigration and Human Resources Specialist

As a core member of the global business services team in Employee Life Cycle you will deliver HR service assistance to the HR community, business managers and employees. You will process complex and escalated Human Resources (HR) requests related to multiple service lines for an assigned group of employees.You will be providing support to employees, managers, HR Business Partners, and outside vendors involved in the immigration process. The incumbent will support with transactional components of visa processing and partnering with the Global Mobility team to ensure a seamless experience for assignees and travelers. Assist with other HR responsibilities to support the US Global Business Service (GBS) Front Office.

Your responsibilities

  • Collects immigration data from sources (legal vendor, employee, Global Mobility team, manager, HR Business Partner) and prepares documents for submission to immigration vendor or government agencies
  • Communicate with hiring managers, visa applicants and vendors on visa processes, updates, documentation requirements, and process timing
  • Support legal vendor with posting of positions for employees in the Green Card
  • Maintain H1B Public Access Files (PAF) to ensure compliance with Department of Labor and USCIS immigration regulations and guidelines
  • Maintain awareness of legislation that impacts the immigration process and work with immigration law firm to obtain recommended action plans
  • Perform I-9 reverifications for employees with work authorization changes and extensions
  • Prepare reports to show status and progress of work
  • Form I-9 processing - E-Verify compliance, tracking, auditing, and filing
  • Ensuring confidentiality and data protection, execution and delivery of information and services according to defined Service Level Agreements.
  • Record employee inquiries in an appropriate IT system (ticket tool).
  • Provide necessary research, problem solving and resolution support for clients. Escalate more complex issues to Senior Immigration Consultant as needed
  • Maintain an organized workflow by successfully monitoring and following up on all items assigned, including seeing problems through to resolution and closure with clients

Your background

  • Associate degree and 1 to 2 years of experience in a HR Services environment, with at least 2 years of immigration knowledge around immigration practices
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, internet and intranet required
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and organize effectively, in a time sensitive environment
  • HRIS experience preferred - SAP and Workday
  • Delivery focused and able to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Strong client relationship skills - ability to establish, manage and leverage relationships with internal and external partners
  • Must have strong communication and active listening skills
  • Comfortable working with people at varying levels of the organization, internal partner, external vendors and across an international environment with diverse cultures
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
