Chewy is hiring a HR Specialist to provide support for the Pre-Hire and Onboarding process at Chewy in our Dania Beach, FL office. The Pre-Hire Specialist is responsible for supporting the Chewy Talent Acquisition and on-boarding processes, supporting on-going pre-hire transactions and general Human Resource administrative responsibilities, as well as special projects as assigned. This Team Member will play a critical role in providing excellent customer service and developing strong relationships with Human Resources and Operations teams. You will be successful in this role because you are passionate about providing a seamless onboarding experience, meeting and exceeding SLAs, ensuring team members are ready as they join Chewy, and the company is protected through your efforts complying with state and federal labor policies.
What You'll Do:
- Track and monitor candidates throughout the pre-employment and on-boarding processes utilizing an excel tracker and information obtained via Applicant Tracking System, Ticketing System, Vendor Systems and HRIS to ensure data integrity and compliance.
- Partner with Hiring Managers, HR, Compliance, and IT to ensure accurate and timely processing for candidates
- Work with hiring managers to ensure appropriate equipment and other essentials for new hires is in place on start date
- Review the completed results of background checks performed on potential Chewy employees to ensure the individuals meet our company standards prior to beginning the onboarding process.
- Handle the issuance of required notices to applicants as per company (adjudication) processes and standards
- Document adjudication determinations and be able to communicate those determinations to internal business partners.
- Assist with background & drug check practices in areas outside of standard preemployment packages
- Respond to candidate and internal stakeholder inquiries about Chewy’s background check & drug practices and process
- Maintain adjudication files and complete tasks related to the Adjudication function
- Provide communication to key stakeholders on any delays that may compromise a team member’s start date
- Escalate more complex issues to Tier 2 or the appropriate COE for advanced support and follow up as required
- Initiate Relocations for team members in accordance to policy, procedures and approved exceptions
- Upon start date, ensure all required onboarding paperwork is completed in a timely manner and new hires receive daily Week One Learning & Development onboarding emails
- Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of onboarding practices and procedures
- Perform weekly audits of work to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Manage workload efficiently to fulfill commitments in accordance with established service level agreements (SLAs)
- Provide project support for various initiatives in HR
What You'll Need:
- HS Diploma or GED, bachelor’s degree preferred
- At least 2 years of experience in HR
- Working knowledge of federal and state laws as related to background adjudications
- Ability to interpret HR policy and apply this knowledge to make solid decisions
- Strong ability to grasp information quickly and probe effectively when required
- Proficient with Excel.
- Customer service focused, have a passion for process improvement, be self-motivated and able to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent communication, analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Detail oriented; demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills, as well as strong data entry skills.
- Effective research, problem-solving and follow-through skills
