Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Human Resources Specialist who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Pittsburgh, PA.

The Human Resource Specialist will be responsible for providing HR administration and employee data management services. This position manages and processes employee records and information within the system and also engages in back-office and transaction services including human resources related activities, policies, processes, and procedures.

  • Manages data entry in the HR Information System (HRIS) including entering all new hire information such as job classification, pay rates, organizational structure, and other key details; reviews and approves employee change requests and ensures transactions are processed in a timely manner.
  • Initiates the I-9 and E-verify process and follows up to ensure the process is completed in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
  • Manages full cycle employment processing including onboarding and off boarding. Processes required documents to ensure data accuracy and proper record keeping including preparing new-employee files, processing new hire paperwork, and conducting exit interviews.
  • Processes invoices from various vendors including reviewing billings for accuracy, codes, and resolves discrepancies.
  • Maintains personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
  • Maintains high level of integrity and confidentiality of Human Resource files, records, and business information.
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee and manager requests and questions or redirecting to the appropriate resource as needed.
  • Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization- wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and other celebrations.
  • Provides general support to other personnel in the Human Resources Department.



Required qualifications Include:

EXPERIENCE

1. Human Resource department administration (preferred)

2. General administrative support work (required)

3. HRIS familiarity (required)

4. Demonstrated people-intensive service delivery experience (required)

EDUCATION

Bachelors' Degree (preferred)

Associates' Degree (U.S.)/College Diploma (Canada): (preferred)

High School Degree or Equivalent (required)

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS

1. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint (required)

2. Proficiency with a HRIS (required)

3. Detail oriented and Highly Organized (required)

4. Ability to write, speak and interact clearly and professionally (required)

5. Multi-tasking (required)

6. Can handle sensitive information with extreme confidentiality (required)

7. Experience in working in a Human Resource Department (preferred)
