Position Summary

The Human Resources Generalist/Business Partner is an integral member of the Human Resources team. This position is responsible for administration of benefits, onboarding procedures and legal and handbook compliance for all employees in the United States. This position will be also be responsible for providing HR generalist support to the corporate office staff including corporate functional departments such as IT, finance, engineering, customer service, supply chain and sales.

Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities

Corporate HR Generalist:

  • Provide HR generalist support to the corporate office staff including corporate functional departments such as IT, finance, engineering, customer service, supply chain and sales.
  • Manage recruiting efforts for corporate office staff leveraging HRIS and Applicant Tracking system.
  • Manages co-op and internship assignments and recruiting as requested.
  • Maintaining Caldwell's new hire onboarding process including Paycom process, training material and forms. Conduct new hire orientation and onboarding for corporate new hires.
  • Owns and manages learning management system (Percipio by SkillSoft) including marketing of e-learning content, administration of system, reporting and usage analytics.
  • Be a key contact for employee questions and issues, troubleshoot problems and communicate with various vendors.
  • Assist the HR team with the performance review program.
  • Maintains in- depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees. Provides expert counsel to management to reduce legal risks and ensure regulatory compliance. Partners with legal counsel as needed/required.
  • Be involved in planning and coordinating employee events, lunches, company celebrations etc.
  • Work with local management team to create a culture that encourages diversity, individual and team development, and organizational excellence free from harassment and in compliance with all federal and state employment laws.
  • Participate in developing Human Resources department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Partner with other HR team members on corporate wide programs and implementations.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.



Corporate Benefits, Policy and Leave Administration:

  • Act as administrator for Caldwell benefits , working with Caldwell's benefits broker and the CHRO to discuss and coordinate rate changes, benefits offerings, and annual legally required reporting.
  • Maintain benefit records to ensure complete and current information is available as required.
  • Responsible for the administration of the annual benefits open enrollment process.
  • Develop all benefits training material and information used in benefits orientation for new hires.
  • Audit employee benefits data in Paycom and ensure benefit billing is accurate monthly.
  • Administer various human resources plans and procedures including HSA, FSA and Caldwellness Cash program.
  • Revise the company handbook annually for all legal updates. Ensure updates are communicated timely to employees.
  • Conduct a yearly I-9 audit with the assistance of the HR Managers in the US plants.
  • Responsible for annual EEO1 Reporting with the assistance of the HR Managers in the US plants.
  • Responsible (with the HR team) for ongoing auditing of Paycom modules for accuracy and automation.
  • Process employee leaves: Disability, FMLA, Paid Family Leave, Paid Sick Leave, etcDrive leave administration process in coordination with HR Team.
  • Act as a health and wellness program champion to drive Caldwell's Wellness program across US sites maintain employee records, employment practices and procedures in compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as with company policy and objectives.
  • Process and manage HR/payroll related data into HRIS and payroll system. Maintain necessary reports and records.
  • Act as a payroll backup to the Payroll Manager.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in benefits administration and benefits program/plan knowledge.
  • Strong HR generalist knowledge.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing on-boarding and orientation programs.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Extreme attention to detail.
  • Excellent root cause problem solving skills.
  • Experience in using automated payroll processing.
  • Ability to accurately maintain and electronically file a large volume of information.
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in using automated payroll processing and HRIS.
  • Has helpful, professional, courteous interpersonal skills and attitude with genuine concern for resolving issues.
  • Ability to work independently in an environment where interruptions are routine and frequent.



Education & Certification

  • Bachelor's Degree in HR Management or similar field.
  • HRM certification a plus.
  • 5+ years of benefits administration work experience is required.
  • Experience in using automated payroll processing, specifically Paycom is helpful.
  • Notary Public License for NY state a plus.
