AncestryDNA is looking for a Population Geneticist, with experience in genomic analysis to study population structure in a genetic dataset of over 20 million customers with ancestry from hundreds of populations from around the world. You will collaborate research and apply novel genetic pattern recognition approaches to different global populations, to improve our knowledge of the human genetic diversity landscape and build the best genetic origins experience for all. You will report to the Senior Manager, Population Genetics.

What You Will Do:

  • Work with other scientists to identify and catalog global genetic diversity and prioritize populations that will best improve the diversity and representativeness of our genetic offering.
  • Work with our collaborators, marketing, and legal partners to develop domestic and international research study protocols and monitor project performance.
  • Provide population genetics expertise in the development of genetic partnerships across the globe.
  • Represent us in dynamic conversations with diverse global research institutions.
  • Perform creative research with the goal of delivering exciting discoveries to customers, including analyzing human genomic data for use in our research projects.

Who You Are:

  • M.S. with 3+ years of experience or Ph.D. in Population Genetics, Evolutionary Biology, Computational Biology, Statistical Genetics, or a related field
  • You have demonstrated experience applying population genetics tools and analyses to infer population structure and demographic history
  • Experience analyzing NGS data is required and experience with microarray data
  • Experience with diverse human populations and knowledge of human population history.
  • Experience with imputation and NGS data processing.
  • Experience with python and R
  • Experience designing and executing prospective human sampling studies.
  • Experience with MySQL or other relational databases
  • Excited to learn and develop with us as we progress towards building a more inclusive DNA experience
