Job Description

The Washington Post is looking to hire a Workday Payroll HRIS Analyst who can take ownership, shape ideas and bring energy to this client-facing role on our HRIS team! The Payroll HRIS Analyst will be primarily responsible for ongoing configuration design and maintenance of the Workday Payroll system; the position also provides ample opportunities to work on a wide range of other projects in multiple Workday modules. The HRIS team manages all Workday HCM modules and the selected candidate will have the opportunity to develop expertise in absence management, benefits, compensation, recruiting, talent, time tracking, and staffing. Internal and external training and knowledge sharing will be provided as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and manage core elements of Workday Payroll by managing the settlement process, tenant configuration, company and worker tax setups, earnings and deductions creation, withholding orders, and tax reporting.
  • Drive effective business decisions by partnering with HR and payroll leadership to identify trends, determine root causes of problems, and provide solutions.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on current and upcoming Workday capabilities related to Payroll by evaluating releases and learning about and communicating increased functionality.
  • Prevent disruption for Workday super users by anticipating and addressing the impact of changes and modifications on other Workday modules and system functions.
  • Create, review and participate in functional and regression testing for all system fixes, upgrades, patches, and other maintenance-including bi-annual Workday releases and new system features-and participate in the communication of changes and enhancements to end users.
  • Own projects as assigned by leadership by leading meetings, providing regular project updates, and adhering to project deadline to deliver timely high-quality services and products.
  • Support payroll processes by developing advanced reports.
  • Train internal HR operations team members as needed
  • Support HCM transactions by reviewing and processing employee transactions, such as job changes, comp changes, promotions, and terminations.



Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Workday Payroll experience is required
  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in information systems, computer science, human resources management, or business administration
  • Experience with the Workday Time Tracking and Absence module in Workday is a plus
  • Ability to influence the adoption of the optimal approach at all levels and drive the seamless delivery of projects
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, be able to manage and work to bring clarity through ambiguity and complexity and support multiple projects simultaneously
  • Highly responsive to business needs
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and initiatives at one time and prioritize
  • Must have a sense of urgency in both action and communication
  • Able to work well independently and under pressure
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive data with confidentiality and integrity; ability to exercise appropriate judgment.
