Purpose of Job

We are currently seeking a talented HR Business Partner (Mid-Level) to work in a hybrid capacity in our San Antonio, TX office.

The actual day's onsite are settled between each employee and the employee's manager.

This individual contributor role will provide operational support to more experienced HRBPs along with providing direct HRBP support of Federal Savings Bank (FSB) Executives. Will work side by side with the HRBPs in the FSB and teammates in HR to deliver on and influence strategies aligned to the Enterprise and FSB talent strategy.

Serves as the primary focal point for Human Resources strategies, issues and needs of an assigned group of Staff Agencies or Business. Identifies Human Resources implications of both strategic and operational plans being proposed by the staff agency or business.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides operational support to more experienced HRBPs in the implementation and ongoing management of all Succession Planning, Diversity & Inclusion, Performance Management and Top Performer identification strategies and programs within assigned Company or Staff Agency.
  • Supports more experienced HRBPs with the management of workforces plans for assigned Company or Staff Agency.
  • May consult with assigned business leaders to understand business strategy/drivers and identify corresponding HR capabilities required to achieve operational and strategic priorities.
  • May lead moderately complex Organization Design efforts.
  • Provide business inputs and feedback to HR through the CoEs, Solutions Delivery and HRBP Lead to improve the effectiveness and relevance of HR policies, programs and services.
  • Provide project and task management support to HRBP organization.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree (8 years required experience without a degree).
  • 4 or more years of relevant work experience in one or more human resource disciplines, or general business consulting/analysis or business management experience, to include 2 or more years experience in leading cross-functional teams or projects requiring strong collaboration, facilitation and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and make decisions of a complex nature that aligns to Enterprise and/or CoSA objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and influence at all levels within the assigned CoSAs or functions.
  • Human Resources Policies, Strategies, and Environment: Knowledge of major responsibilities, accountabilities, and organization of the Human Resources (HR) function or department; ability to use and effectively administer the organization's HR policies, strategies and environment.
  • HR Planning and Development: Knowledge of and ability to plan and develop an organization's HR operations in order to increase individual and organizational effectiveness.
  • Business Acumen: Knowledge, insight, and understanding of business concepts, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis and the ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve the problems in the best interest of the business.
  • Relationship Management: Ability to establish and build healthy working relations and partnerships with clients, vendors, and peers.
  • Proficient knowledge of data analysis techniques and tools and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred Experience:

  • Deep understanding of Leader or HRBP Workday activities such as position creation, plan changes and unit code creation.
  • Financial Services industry experience.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations and business cases.


USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $72,900.00 - 131,400.00*.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

*Geographical Differential: Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average.

Shift premium will be addressed on an individual basis for applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core hours.
