The Role


The Employee Relations Specialist serves as a functional expert in support of a proactive employee relations function consistent with our vision and values and in alignment with our people strategy. Reporting to the Sr. Talent Partner and in support of the Operations organization, the ER Specialist provides guidance and coaching to frontline leaders to strengthen leadership capabilities, and supports the development of a data-driven strategy aimed at promoting employee engagement and driving business results.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts timely, objective, and thorough internal investigations, maintaining detailed and accurate files and preparing all required documentation
  • Engages as a trusted partner and subject matter expert with employees and managers on work related issues including, but not limited to, performance management, workplace concerns, requests for reasonable accommodation (ADA), wage and hour concerns, complex labor law matters and involuntary terminations
  • Initiates a proactive, strategic approach to employee relations by identifying and analyzing ER data/metrics for themes, trends, and root cause identification; share findings with key partners in order to develop and deliver a plan to stabilize and reduce ER volumes
  • Promotes knowledge, understanding, and compliance with regard to company policy through coaching, training and education
  • Builds and leverages inclusive and collaborative relationships with internal business partners, including Talent Management, HR Operations, Compliance, Talent Acquisition, Learning and Development, Legal and other internal partners to develop proactive strategies, solutions, programs and policies

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of complex ER experience, with an emphasis on effectively handling employee issues, investigations and facilitating resolutions
  • Demonstrated experience leading a wide variety of complex employee investigations and providing employee relations consultations with little supervision.
  • Advanced understanding of employment and HR related laws, regulations, policies, principles, concepts and practices, including Title VII, ADA, ADAA, and FMLA.
  • Previous experience supporting a multi-state remote workforce 
  • High emotional intelligence and strong people skills.
  • Great coaching ability, sound judgement and problem solving skills
  • Critical thinker who can see full picture in order to make recommendations for resolution of issues
  • Ability to understand and leverage organizational metrics to identify trends to inform recommendations and solutions
  • Strong collaborator with ability to effectively work cross functionally

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting healthcare operations, including call center environments
