The Head of Total Rewards Strategy will serve as the Center of Excellence thought leader focused on the strategy and design of best-in-class programs comprising broad-based compensation as well as health and welfare benefits, and wellness initiatives across the enterprise. He/She will lead a small team in this work and will enable us to build a holistic strategy for how we attract, reward and engage talented and diverse associates in a team-based organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop a Total Rewards vision and strategy that enables a business segmented, team-based organization to deliver human centered complete wealth management to tens of millions of clients
    • Partner with stakeholders across the enterprise to develop and execute a comprehensive strategy aligned with our value proposition
    • Develop innovative tools and programs that support our purpose and are reflective of a highly collaborative, diverse and hybrid workforce
    • Present recommendations for future benefit plan and compensation design to senior leadership and decision-making committees.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and vendors to evaluate current plan offerings and value to the firm for implementation
    • Maintain relationships with partners and vendors, including monitoring vendor performance and ensuring operational standards are met.
    • Partner with firm Sourcing and Legal teams to ensure firm risk is minimized with benefit plan contracts and renewals and that negotiations are in the firm's favor.
    • Plan and evaluate changes to different compensation and benefit programs to minimize risk and deliver strategies appropriate to the firm.
    • Lead firm Total Rewards communications to all stakeholders.
    • Utilizes broad authority and autonomy to make complex, ongoing decisions about area priorities, resources and approach.
  • Lead and develop a small team to research, design, evaluate and implement total reward programs across the enterprise
  • Partner with our shared services area to ensure implementation and administration of plans deliver intended value and create a positive associate experience

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
    EXPERIENCE:
    12-15 years of progressive experience and increasing leadership responsibility in the areas of broad-based and executive compensation, and health & welfare benefits strategy and design from within a large-scale organization.

Position Requirements
EXPERIENCE:
12-15 years of progressive experience and increasing leadership responsibility in the areas of broad-based and executive compensation, and health & welfare benefits strategy and design from within a large-scale organization.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required. Advanced Degree such as an MBA is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of ERISA, benefit plan design, plan management.
  • Proficient understanding of retirement benefits in the U.S. and Canada, including 401(k) plans, non-qualified plans, and Group Registered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSP).
  • Knowledge of compensation philosophies and best practices.
  • Knowledge of existing pension laws including 415 limits, ADP/ACP testing, top heavy rules, ERISA qualifications and IRS rulings.

    Skills & Abilities
  • Extensive experience in developing and directing others to deliver strategic outcomes in large, complex organizations.
    • Expert ability to establish expectations, provide feedback, coach and inspire teams of associates.
    • Expert ability to lead multiple projects/people at same time and manage complex matters or processes.
    • Expert ability to lead and inspire multiple teams by creating the vision and direction for areas that support business initiatives and drive desired action.
    • Ability to make timely decisions and manage multiple priorities in dynamic, ambiguous situations where there often is no precedent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to explore different perspectives, constructively challenge others and build coalitions to support aligned strategy and align on decisions favorable to the firm.
  • Must be able to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Strong understanding of core HR practices.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Ability to analyze information and use experience, creativity and good judgment to make frequent, highly complex, non-routine decisions independently without benefit of established guidelines, procedures or policies that have far-reaching impact across the organization.
  • Ability to identify and minimize risk to the firm.
  • Unquestionable personal integrity with strong self-awareness and commitment to growth
  • Change leadership - experience leading large-scale business and/or cultural change

Specific Technology or Tools Utilized in the Position

  • Experience with PeopleSoft is highly preferred.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
