We’re hiring a Head/VP of People to help nurture and sustain our culture, to help everyone feel challenged and fulfilled at work, and to set us up for rapid organizational growth. We’re looking for someone who is experienced in HR and combines an ability to lead with eagerness to do the work an early-stage company needs to build a foundation for future growth. This is an important role at a formative time in Outlier’s evolution – the Head/VP of People will set a tone and example that will be followed for many years to come.

As Head/VP of People you will lead the strategy and execution to help attract, develop, motivate and retain the team at Outlier.org. You will act as a champion for the company culture and will support the company executives, team leaders, and individual contributors allowing the company to develop and grow quickly while remaining an enjoyable place to work. In this role you will be responsible for all human resource related activities. 

As a formal part of the leadership team, you will be responsible for helping us build and support this exceptional group of people and you will lead and expand upon an existing talented People and Recruitment team as the company grows.

This is a remote, full-time position reporting to the COO.

What You'll Do

  • Help plot and build Outlier’s organizational growth, which is doubling in size
  • Lead all People related activities - People Operations, Talent Acquisition, & Culture
  • Act as a thought partner with the leadership team on company culture, company growth plans, and other HR issues
  • Manage, build, challenge and motivate a team to recruit, retain, and inspire employees
  • Provide people leadership and consultation across the business on the most complex issues  supporting staff, managers and executives in all related areas including: recruitment, performance management & retention, compensation and rewards, DE&I, staff relations, benefits, training, and people development. 
  • Lead and create ways to promote our culture throughout the organization to drive enhanced employee engagement
  • Develop policies and continue to push our culture to ensure strong employee engagement as a remote organization
  • Leverage data and benchmarks to help guide decision making, and allow the company to scale effectively and efficiently. 

Who You Are

  • 8+ years of HR business partner or HR generalist experience working in a fast paced environment
  • Experience in scaling a fast-growing tech company 
  • Experience in leading a People Operations team
  • Kind and curious
  • Show an ability to challenge conventional approaches and a willingness to build a unique approach
  • Enjoy operating as much as strategizing, and are adept at both
  • Have strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Hold a relevant degree or equivalent practical experience with proof of HR related qualifications and experience in best practice
