Global Director, Total Rewards

The Director of Total Rewards is a critical People Team and company role that will lead all design, administration, and evolution of competitive and differentiated global sales, executive, and company rewards programs. As a recent IPO company, we are vigorously executing our strategy which includes retaining our stellar team and supporting global employee growth through attracting and hiring the world’s best quantum talent. In this role you will own global compensation, benefits, and perks programs. This is a Global Director level role that will initially be an individual contributor, but will build a team as required and aligned with our planned growth.
Responsibilities:
- Build, implement and evolve global employee, executive, and sales compensation and rewards programs.
- Oversee the preparation of materials and presentations for proxy disclosure/other required filings and for the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors.
- Responsible for the preparation of job descriptions, job evaluations, and salary surveys, and establishes and evolves salary structures.
- Develops compensation budgets, prepares policies and procedures to ensure the achievement of equitable and competitive total compensation.
- Effectively communicates and leads consultation with key executives, Legal, Finance, and outside consulting firms as necessary to complete job responsibilities. Assists directly or engages/manages outside consultants with tax and other specialized matters related to compensation. Evaluates market data and provides consultation on new hire offers and promotion recommendations.
- Define a vision and strategy for Total Rewards that reinforces our business strategy, financial objectives and employee experience.
- Provide expertise regarding the strategic design, implementation, regulatory compliance, communication, and administration of our total reward programs.
- Analyzes jobs, salaries, and incentives in order to evaluate internal equity, external competitiveness, and legal compliance of pay practices.
- In collaboration with Legal and Accounting, prepare executive compensation materials and documentation necessary for required filings, the annual proxy statement and annual shareholder meeting.
- Partner with Finance on compensation budget, tax and accounting issues.
- Establish, build and maintain strong relationships with leaders and managers across the organization to ensure our compensation structure supports our strategic objectives.
- Educate leaders, managers and employees on our Total Rewards philosophy.
- Perform compensation-related acquisition work as necessary – due diligence, retention, integration, etc.
You’d be a good fit with the following proven experiences:
- 10+ years working in both compensation and benefits
- 5+ years managing and building teams
- 5+ years managing equity programs inclusion stock options and RSUs
- 5+ years with non-US compensation and benefits administration, preferably EU countries
- 5+ years working in high-tech industry
- Designing and implementing global compensation programs (sales, exec, tech)
- Stakeholder management and partnership
- Data analytics, deriving insights from data, and presenting complex data and concepts
- Using MS Excel, or other data or statistical analysis tools at an expert level
- Identifying linkages between business goal, culture, and total rewards strategy
- Appreciation for balancing cost with market competitive and differentiated reward offerings
- Managing and leading others through change
- Ability to drive and sustain operational excellence and develop management controls
- Leadership, communication and influencing skills
- Complex project management
- Strong attention to detail
- Undergraduate degree
- Masters in HR, Analytical fields or Business Administration preferred
Our HQ is located in College Park, Maryland and we are a 15 minute metro ride from Washington DC. We are actively building out teams in the Washington D.C., Seattle, and Boston metro areas and will want to locate you in one of these geographies. However, IonQ will be expanding into additional geographies both domestically and internationally so don’t let this stop you from applying.
