About You and The Role

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic Global Benefits Lead to join our People team. In this role, you will have the exciting opportunity to design a competitive and rewarding benefits and total rewards strategy for Zipliners across the globe. As Zipline’s first Benefits hire, you will get to work closely with our People Partner team and key business leaders to make a lasting impact on overall employee experience!

What You’ll Do

  • Develop, implement, administer and maintain global benefits programs, policies and procedures
  • Review, evaluate, and administer Zipline’s leaves and workers’ compensation programs in partnership with vendors, service providers and internal stakeholders
  • Ensure all benefits programs meet employee needs, comply with legal requirements and are cost effective
  • Develop a competitive total rewards program for Zipline, creating educational materials to help outline the exciting benefits available to our employees including wellness benefits, unlimited paid time off, cell phone reimbursement, etc
  • Select benefits vendors and manage the open enrollment process annually
  • Maintain records and reports to conform to EEO regulations including site and corporate reporting requirements and AAP planning and reporting
  • Handle all workers compensation claims by reviewing claims, substantiating documentation, and requesting legal counsel review when necessary
  • Become an expert in the global benefits market, working to create consistency whenever possible across all Zipline locations
  • Partner with Legal, Finance, People & Recruiting Teams to update and implement new/existing benefit programs

What You’ll Bring

  • 3-5+ years of experience managing benefits programs
  • General knowledge of employment laws, including when to involve attorneys or internal leadership for additional support
  • Familiarity with COBRA, ERISA, FMLA and related state and federal regulations
  • Organized self-starter that thrives in a fast-paced, constantly growing & evolving startup environment
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in an environment with ambiguity and change; adapting to and being a champion for positive change
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Impeccable discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and highly-organized
  • Ability to multitask and problem solve
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of insurance regulations, plan designs and third party record keeping/administration

What Else You Need to Know

This role is open to candidates nationwide who have the ability to travel to our South San Francisco (Headquarters) to work with stakeholders with some frequency (1-2 times quarterly max).
