Job summary
The Red Hat People (HR) team is hiring an Executive Compensation Lead to lead executive compensation within the newly formed executive programs office. In this role, you will use market analysis to lead program design, executive rewards programs, and consult with customers on compensation recommendations. You should be motivated with a great customer orientation and consultative approach to managing complex executive matters. You should have the ability to effectively visualize, organize, and convey compensation insights in order to partner with key stakeholders and influence critical talent decisions with our most senior leaders. As an Executive Compensation Lead, you will need experience with executive compensation, global compensation, equity, job leveling, and employment in the technology industry. You should have solid management skills for the talent life cycle. You will also develop professional presentations and facilitate discussions with finesse and poise.
Primary job responsibilities

  • Research executive compensation, including structure of compensation, reviewing public filings, e.g., proxy statements, Form 8Ks, Form 4s, and consultant benchmarking analyses
  • Participate in benchmarking and appropriate salary surveys and conduct analysis on compensation data from third-party survey vendors to design executive programs including leveling, short and long-term incentives, overall pay mix recommendations, and other total rewards solutions
  • Continue to evolve a differentiated senior leader compensation program that enables Red Hat to attract, grow, and retain the executive talent needed to achieve our business goals
  • Model, track, and report on executive compensation program effectiveness
  • Evaluate the comprehensive impacts of program design changes, considering multiple perspectives
  • Develop effective cross functional partnerships with legal, finance, total rewards, employment, mobility, HR consultants, leadership development, and analytics teams
  • Partner with executive development team and senior HR consultants to deliver great experience for our executive team
  • Develop individualized materials to support management consulting and communications and drive understanding among participants on the value of our programs and alignment with the company strategy
  • Partner with internal talent teams in crafting packages for senior leaders
  • Cooperate with equity compensation, legal, talent acquisition, executive development and succession, people analytics, executive onboarding, senior management promotions, succession management, talent organizational planning, and accelerated leadership development
  • Participate in special projects within the executive programs office


Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, legal, economics, mathematics, or a related field
  • 5+ years of solid experience working in or supporting executive compensation programs; consulting experience is a plus
  • Excellent analytical and presentation skills
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills, e.g., pivot tables, lookups, and macros
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to concisely summarize insights and quickly assess business and talent impact
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment
  • Commitment to excellence and a high level of integrity
  • Highly organized with attention to detail, excellent follow-through, and customer orientation


The following are considered a plus:

  • Experience working in global compensation
  • Experience with mergers, acquisitions, and board governance and compensation committees
  • Experience with tools like Tableau and Google Workspace
