Employee Relations Manager Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned Employee Relations (ER) Manager to join our ER Solutions team. This role is responsible for leading a dedicated team of ER professionals in the development of and firm compliance with policies and processes that are aligned with global employment law, mitigating risk, while reflecting the culture and values of the firm. This role will advise business leaders and talent team members in the US and globally on risk compliance protocols such as policy creation, implementation and interpretation. The position will oversee both internal and external audits and initiatives to monitor compliance with these policies and protocols. They are a subject matter expert on United States, Canadian and international employment law.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of employee relations professionals who provide the day-to-day support for employee relations advisory services. The team will provide support on a broad range of issues including, but not limited to, policies and procedures related to health & safety, FLSA compliance;1 regulatory reporting, such as I9s, VETS, EEO1, affirmative action plans, performance management, FMLA/ADA compliance and other employee relations issues.
  • Identify gaps in policy/procedure and create proposal for closure in risk mitigation. Continually evaluate current processes to identify business protocol improvements in managing firm risk.
  • In collaboration with the ER Case Management Team, provide HR leaders and team members with guidance and recommendations on challenging issues related to performance management, discipline, terminations, severance management, leave management, and other employee issues as they relate to firm policies, protocols, and past interpretations.
  • Develop and deliver/arrange for delivery of training to human resources team members on employee relations issues and serves as a subject matter expert to field human resources.
  • Effectively manage collaborative conversations with business leaders, legal counsel, risk management team, and human resource leaders in order to leverage all perspectives.
  • Take key leadership role with key stakeholders in the development and implementation of various health and safety initiatives, including pandemic response and physical security assessments.
  • Participate in leading key ER team projects and/or cross-functional team initiatives.
  • Other tasks as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree, required; Human Resources or a related field, preferred
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of ER/HR experience, in both a professional services environment. Large, multi-state, multi-national organization, preferred
  • Three (3) plus years of supervisory/management experience
  • Advanced knowledge of employment laws, including national and local within US, Canada, India and Europe
  • Proven track record in project/change management and methodologies/tools
  • Established experience with planning & prioritization, risk identification & management, and time & productivity management
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and consultative skills.
  • Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities are required with extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Ability to influence and build trusted/credible relationships with leaders, including a change of thinking without damage to the relationship
  • Critical thinking / judgment; proven resolution skills with complex situations and issues
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills with strong proficiency in Excel and project management tools
  • Agility and adaptability


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong experience with development and implementation of tiered service delivery model.
  • Experience working in a matrix environment in a global organization
  • Professional HR certification(s)
