Director, US Talent Acquisition

Reporting into the VP, Talent Acquisition (TA), the Director of TA will be part of the TA Leadership team and is responsible for implementing the TA strategy across the US Pearson business.

This includes developing the appropriate company policies and procedures that can attract and retain the best possible talent. The role will ensure a sustainable DE&I focus and improved quality of candidates across key business areas at all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Further develop the TA function from operational recruiting to a model/structure which is integrated, optimised, agile and scalable.
  • Lead workforce planning across the US business working with the HRBP's to enable better understanding of requirements and management of hiring in a proactive way ,examining hiring trends and anticipating the organisations response to labour market changes, such as shortages and surpluses
  • Work with the TA Leadership team to implement best practices and methodology to support a world-class global TA team.
  • Create and track effective KPI's for TA and implement metrics that enable informed hiring decisions
  • Supervise the ongoing development of automation for our recruitment and onboarding process.
  • Create a proactive, engaged environment in which advice from TA business partners on current and future needs/ trends/analysis leads to effective Talent Acquisition
  • Work closely with Corporate Communications and our EVP team member to develop an effective employment branding strategy including social media campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) team to promote DE&I in all aspects of interviewing, selection, and hiring process.
  • Partner with the sourcing team to identify innovative sourcing techniques that will support business growth.
  • Experience recruiting and hiring executive leadership roles including C-suite
  • Ensure that TA projects are in alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Cultivate a culture of excellence and develop clear objectives for TA
  • Collaborate with Business and HR leaders for the purpose of developing effective sourcing and retention strategies.


Skills, Capability & Approach

  • Focused background in Talent Acquisition, managing diverse global teams. 10+ years' experience
  • Proven ability and able to demonstrate strong experience in building operational excellence and expertise in recruiting top talent
  • Proven ability to connect with and influence business leaders, coordinate internally with cross-functional colleagues and build relationships at all levels across the organization.
  • Proven track record of designing, creating, and driving Talent Acquisition strategies
  • Able to work across geographically dispersed diverse team to successfully deliver business outcomes.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Previous experience in the optimisation of ATS (Applicant Tracking System)
  • Solid understanding and able to demonstrate experience of process optimisation, data usage and project management
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Analytical, critical thinking abilities
  • Proficient at using software and leveraging technology for talent acquisition processes
  • Meticulous, hard-working, and goal driven.
