Role Purpose

  • The Director of Learning & Development for Technology , is responsible for designing, developing, and innovating learning curriculum for all associates across Gartner's global Technology organization. The Director will develop a learning strategy and roadmap based on the collective Technology teams mission-critical priorities and related people development requirements, and through a careful diagnostic needs analysis approach that considers the broad landscape for learning (e.g., business priorities, job responsibilities, future requisite skills, etc.).



Major Responsibilities/ Accountabilities

  • Lead the design, development, and execution of scalable learning strategies to address business needs and the related knowledge, skill, and ability requirements for associates
  • Implement an analytical approach to understanding learning needs, articulating desired learning objectives and outcomes, and selecting appropriate instructional modalities and learning content that is rooted in a business units' priorities and operations
  • Develop learning strategies, plans, and content to be delivered through various platforms (e.g., Instructor-Led programs, self-directed courses, experiential learning, etc.) based on associate and business needs assessments
  • Manage a portfolio of existing learning solutions that addresses Technology targeted learning and development needs:
    • Manage the partnership with licensed content providers and determine the overall effectiveness of each offering
    • Identify, coordinate, and communicate programs that enhance the capabilities of associates through continued education and skills training (i.e., university partnerships)
    • Partner with IT Rotational Program leadership to ensure L&D offerings are structured and communicated to address the needs for that program
  • Ensure ongoing program impact measurement and evolution by:
    • Gathering qualitative and quantitative feedback on existing program effectiveness and remaining needs
    • Documenting and reporting progress across all L&D initiatives
    • Following up with internal stakeholders (OC & OC-1) consistently and keeping core team informed of the progress
  • Partner with HR teams to support and grow the L&D and New Hire Onboarding Programs that fuel how IT attracts, hires, and develops associates
  • Lead, coach, and develop the learning team, providing day-to-day performance management of team members and ensuring effective team performance

Relationships: Internal/External

  • Interaction with IT leadership and associates at all levels to design and deliver learning solutions
  • Partnership with HR Partner and Talent Acquisition organizations
  • Close alignment with Leadership, Learning & Organizational Effective team; able to draw upon expertise and resources across multiple LLOE domains



Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Adult Education, or equivalent experience; Master's Degree preferred



Professional Experience

  • At least eight years of curriculum design experience in a corporate setting
  • Expertise in instructional methods and training techniques including curriculum design principles, adult learning theory and blended learning strategies
  • Demonstrated success at developing curriculum paths based on a thorough needs analysis of business priorities and skill requirements



Technical/ Professional Skills & Competencies

  • Experience in developing learning strategies and program from the ground up based on organizational and business priorities
  • A technology proponent; learning technology savvy
  • Strong project management skills with proven ability to define scope and deliver results in a changing & growing business environment
  • Ability to work and think globally; skilled in creating programs applicable to multi-cultural audiences
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills - able to present and influence at all levels and build and develop strong trusting relationships.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to distill complex ideas into simple concepts
  • Growth Mindset; sees problems as opportunities
  • Experience leading a team of learning professionals
