  • Lead the Employee Experience team.

Reports to: Chief People Officer

As the Director of HR and Employee Experience at Tango Card, in addition to the cool work listed above, your responsibilities are:

  • HR Administration (25%)
    • Create new company processes, practices, and policies; review and make recommendations for improving existing company policies and processes; and communicate changes to help insure adoption
    • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation to reduce legal risks and ensure regulatory and company policy compliance in partnership with the Chief People Officer (CPO) and Legal
    • Update and maintain our HCM system
    • Facilitate FMLA and other Leaves of Absence
    • Serve as backup for payroll processing
    • Co-create internal HR controls
    • Update and maintain HR records to ensure compliance
  • Employee Experience (25%)
    • Define the next-generation of benefits and amenities for remote workers in with your peers on the People team
    • Co-design our onboarding process to meet the needs of both in-office and remote workers in partnership with the CPO
    • Map the end to end employee experience in partnership with your peers on the People team
    • Use research and data to identify high potential areas of investment in the employee experience, build influence for suggested strategies, and measure success
    • Monitor the market landscape to understand how the remote employee experience is developing across the tech industry
    • Coordinate employee engagement activities and events
    • Create, launch, analyze, and report on employee engagement surveys
    • Partner with our Director, Workspaces in designing meaningful, in-office experiences for when employees do come into an office
    • Manage company-wide employee experience budget
  • People Business Partner Support (30%)
    • Act as the primary People Business Partner for Revenue, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and HR teams by forming effective relationships with these client groups and by supporting people processes
    • Conduct weekly meetings with assigned business unit(s)
    • Analyze trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs, and opportunities for learning
    • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance (coaching, career development, and disciplinary actions)
    • Partner with business unit leaders and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention, and ensure an effective work environment
    • Provide guidance and input on organizational design, workforce planning, and succession planning to be able to scale effectively
    • Lead meetings with hiring managers and recruiters to assess potential headcount requests, create new job descriptions or update existing ones, provide compensation data, partner with Recruiting and Candidate Experience throughout the hiring process, and lead the onboarding process for new Tangocardians
    • Manage and resolve basic employee relations issues; escalate potential serious issues to the CPO and/or Legal 
    • Conduct exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation
  • Employee Experience Team Leadership (20%)
    • Coach and mentor existing Employee Experience team members
    • Hire new Employee Experience team members
    • Co-create team strategy with the CPO
    • Set team goals and KPIs, hold team accountable for achieving individual and team metrics, and report on those metrics
    • Partner with peer leaders (Director, Recruiting and Candidate Experience; Director, Learning; and People Business Partners) on the People team
    • Co-create and manage team budget
  • Perform other duties as assigned

To be effective in our Director of HR and Employee Experience role, you must have the following knowledge, skills, and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Eight or more years of HR administrative and talent management experience combined
  • Skilled in HR analytics
  • Experience supporting business leaders and employees in areas of employee engagement, employee relations, performance coaching, and change management
  • Experience in hiring, coaching, and developing HR team members
  • Experience in processing payroll
  • Experience in multiple human resources disciplines including direct, hands-on experience with  compensation benchmarking, organizational design and development, employee relations, training and development, performance management, workforce planning, and rewards and recognition 
  • Experience in supporting culture, engagement, and diversity initiatives
  • Skilled in conflict management 
  • Skilled in providing constructive feedback
  • Knowledge of federal and state labor laws and regulations
  • Skilled in creating HR processes and documenting HR and company practices and policies
  • Skilled in both verbal and written communications  
  • Skilled in HRIS/HCM management
  • Skilled in problem solving, planning, and organizational skills
  • Skilled in building and maintaining interpersonal relationships
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity
  • Ability to interact and develop meaningful interpersonal relationships with employees at all levels

  • Skilled in competency modeling
  • Skilled in development of career paths
  • Experience in a high growth tech company
  • Experience with Google Workspace
  • Experience with Namely HRIS
  • Experience with Greenhouse ATS
  • Experience with compensation modeling using tools such as Radford
  • Experience using productivity tools such as Confluence, Slack, Jira, Monday.com, etc.
  • Experience supporting multiple departmental functions
