JOB DESCRIPTION
Our growing corporate team is searching for a Payroll and Benefits Manager who will be responsible for making sure our employees get paid accurately and on time, and who will own the behind-the-scenes processes (e.g., reconciling benefit invoices, 401K administration, etc.) related to payroll and benefits. At a high level, you will own preparing payroll for multiple organizations along with several other payroll and benefits related responsibilities. You will serve as an important contact for our employees who have payroll and benefit related questions and ensure that they get answers and/or resolutions in a timely manner. You will report to our Controller and collaborate closely with our Human Resources team to ensure that our employees have a great employee experience when it comes to getting paid and using their benefits.
Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing multi-state semi-monthly payroll.
- Setting up new hires in payroll and benefits and offboarding employees when they leave.
- Fielding questions from employees and resolving issues as necessary.
- Accurately maintaining employee benefit deductions.
- Updating and maintaining employee data in our payroll system, Paylocity.
- Maintaining PTO bank balances.
- Administering the 401K plan.
- Serving as the employee contact for payroll and benefit deduction-related questions and issues.
- Processing employee expense reimbursements.
- Reconciling monthly benefit invoices.
- Responding to employment verification requests.
- Ensuring compliance with state and federal law.
- Reviewing payroll tax returns and W2’s prepared by our payroll provider.
- Registering for state/local payroll tax agencies as needed and responding to requests and notices.
- Preparing payroll journal entries.
- Completing and submitting miscellaneous reports (e.g., EOC).
- Responding to data requests related to audits (e.g., 401k audit, etc.).
- Ensuring appropriate data submissions between payroll and various benefit providers.
- Administrating COBRA.
- Administrating of FSA and HSA plans.
- Maintaining employee data in various business systems.
EXPERIENCE
- 3-5 years of experience running payroll in a multi-state environment.
- Paylocity experience and Employee Navigator experience a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
