Job Summary
Under broad supervision, the Compensation Associate provides analytical and other professional level support to the compensation function. This position is a key member of the Compensation team which manages the design and implementation of executive and broad-based compensation activities for the enterprise. This position contributes to fostering consultative solutions for various business needs and initiatives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
- Participates in the job analysis processes and performs base salary and variable pay administration and audits.
- Assists in the implementation and administration of various compensation software applications and may provide applicable training and support to end-users.
- Runs standard report queries and assists in creating and administering customized reports for management.
- Compiles monthly accrual supporting documentation for accounting.
- Assists with quarterly internal control testing procedures.
- Performs activities related to market data research and salary survey submissions.
- May be the designated contact for a specific area of compensation administration.
- May participate in special projects (e.g., merit increase budgeting and planning, salary range maintenance, etc).
- Provides support to Compensation Consultants on ad hoc projects and requests from supporting business units
- Processes payments within compensation software applications.
May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Basic technical knowledge of compensation theory, practices and applicable laws.
- General knowledge of human resources theory and practice, the insurance industry and the organization.
- Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
- Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and effectively interact with internal and external business partners.
- Good analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to exercise independent judgement and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software and basic knowledge of compensation software applications.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- Typically up to two years related work experience.
- Completion of course work towards CCP preferred.
