Basic Function

As a Communications Associate Advisor, this individual will be a member of the Corporate Communications team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and administering communications strategies related to the company's Human Resources and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives using best-in-class methods. He/she will be a subject matter expert for HR communications, creating editorial strategies and content for various LyondellBasell communications platforms.

The HR Communications Associate Advisor will work closely with the Sr. Manager, HR Communications, and the Advisor, HR Communications in leading and supporting the communication of corporate initiatives and employee communications as well as other leaders and groups within the organization. This role will create strategic communication plans, develop effective change management plans, work with corporate partners and employees.

The HR Communications Associate Advisor will partner with leaders to design, develop and produce comprehensive HR communication campaigns and materials that support the department's short and long-term strategies and are shared across multiple communications channels. This role will also help embed the Company's DEI strategy into our culture as a competitive and strategic advantage.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop HR communications strategy and cadence
  • Lead work directly with internal and external stakeholders to absorb complex strategic and organizational information to prepare easily understood, compelling copy to communicate messages and programs
  • Develop content and messaging for a range of communication channels to advance DEIs mission and raise awareness about DEI activities
  • Write and edit copy for corporate communications and other projects required by communications management, such as: Human Resources programs and projects, organizational development programs and projects, people change management programs and projects, training programs and projects
  • Maintain the HR communications calendar to effectively and efficiently plan for, prioritize and launch all department-wide communications
  • Develop a variety of in-depth HR communications and successfully coordinate those requests to proactively support the Company's short and long term HR strategy as well as the company's DEI strategy
  • Edit others' writing as needed on a variety of HR-related topics
  • Provide support for the company's talent development and recruiting programs
  • Be a thought-leader with strategic and innovative communication planning
  • Measure initiative and campaign outcomes
  • Basic knowledge of corporate communications operating within a Public Affairs department
  • Assists in the development and execution of communications plans
  • Creates content for various communications channels (e.g. Elements, LYB.com, social media and LYB content hub)
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Communications team in both content and visual storytelling for LyondellBasell through a broad array of communication assets.
  • Contributes to the alignment and information sharing among the Public Affairs team about new messaging, resources, upcoming events/activities, etc.
  • Act as a trusted partner for multiple clients, acting as the first line of contact for communications with assigned clients and/or external stakeholders
  • Understand the vision of management and clients / external stakeholders
  • Serve as a project owner, executing campaigns and projects as assigned with a degree of skill and professionalism
  • Possess initiative to think several steps ahead and anticipate needs of clients / stakeholders and management
  • Creates and maintains communications resources and toolkits including but not limited to key message documents, power point presentations, and training materials
  • Communicates proactively with Public Affairs, business colleagues and functional teams on upcoming communications to ensure awareness and alignment among all stakeholders
  • Represents the company with the utmost integrity and abides by the LyondellBasell Code of Conduct
  • Reviews documents and language from other functional areas where applicable (e.g., external, marketing communications, internal) for accuracy and consistency
  • Actively participates and communications new ideas, innovative methods and/or tools to communications leadership team

  • The ideal candidate will have solid collaboration and listening skills and the ability to work within and across functions
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment while maintaining work focus despite challenges or setbacks

  • Command of AP Style, while displaying strong and efficient writing competencies across digital and print platforms
  • Ability to function autonomously while checking in with management regarding agreed upon strategic direction, work progress and any unusual situations
  • Skilled at managing multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively
  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, including ability to engender trust, respect and confidence
  • Proven self-starter, willingness to assume management of projects, paying attention to detail and setting priorities to meet deadlines
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and manage sensitive materials
  • Good judgement with the ability to work effectively under pressure, constantly adjusting priorities as circumstances change
  • Sets stretch targets for self to ensure high quality performance
  • Perform any additional duties as required
  • 2+ years of relative corporate communications or similar experience required
