Responsibilities

The Associate HR Business Partner serves as a partner to the HRBP team to develop and facilitate best practices in human resources, which enables Southwest to hire, motivate, reward, and retain quality Employees. Key duties include performing a broad range of activities including, but not limited to: performance management, career coaching, supporting organizational effectiveness efforts, and assisting in the execution of the talent review process.

WORK ACTIVITIES/CONTEXT:

  • Assist business Leaders and HR business partners with organizational effectiveness efforts by creating tools, materials, and procedures (e.g. surveys, communications, presentations, etc.)
  • Serve as the first point of contact for Employees and Leaders regarding questions and guidance on fundamental HR topics and issues by partnering with the relevant Centers of Excellence
  • Support talent acquisition strategies by developing a clear understanding of Department recruitment plans, building relationships with the Talent Acquisition Team, and supporting the recruitment process including developing job descriptions, participating in the interview process, and offer formulation
  • Provide support to Employees concerning, policy interpretation, HR procedures, work related problems, etc., at the direction of HRBP's and escalating to senior level HRBPs as necessary
  • Assist in the execution of the annual talent review and merit process by managing all program logistics (e.g. scheduling meetings, preparing documents, taking notes, etc.); compiling, analyzing, and validating data; and documenting output
  • Collaborate with assigned client groups to support people initiatives by understanding the organization's objectives, issues, needs, and key success factors
  • Provide support to HR Business Partners (HRBP) with data and trend analysis, report writing, research, interpretation, formatting, and problem resolution
  • Coach and advise individual contributors on the development of competencies and skills needed to achieve Employee needs and future aspirations
  • Manage performance management processes including documenting Employee skill gaps or behavioral patterns, recommending training or developmental opportunities, and creating disciplinary letters or performance plans, when necessary
  • Assist with the preparation of Employee separation notices and related documentation, and conduct exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation
  • Assist in the investigation of employee relations issues including: intake of complaints, interviewing witnesses and/or assessing supporting materials, and partnering with Legal and HR Business Partners on making a determination on appropriate actions
  • Provide project management support for people initiatives at the direction of senior level HRBPs
  • Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description.
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders.



Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.


EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent experience required


WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 plus years of experience in multiple human resources related functions required

  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.

  • Understanding of coaching resources
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply the business model, operations, financial structure for the assigned organizations
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive Company and personal information

  • Ability to deliver effective feedback
  • Ability to maintain a professional presence in high-pressure situations

  • Ability to analyze data, understand trends, and develop appropriate visualizations
  • U.S. citizenship or current U.S. work authorization required, and no current or future work authorization sponsorship needed.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by start date to comply with Executive Order 14042, which requires employees of federal contractors to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
