THE OPPORTUNITY

The Alta People Development Manager is responsible for building and implementing trainings for global Alta staff, clients, and partners. The successful candidate is a results-oriented leader with a passion for growing people and teams in the dairy industry, catalyzing culture, and ultimately creating sustained value for dairies across the globe.

The Alta People Development Manager will be responsible for facilitating trainings in areas such as genetic management, reproduction, consultative selling, and data-based decision making. The trainings will focus on preparing Alta field staff to leverage progressive technology and consulting tools that are uniquely designed for Alta clients to add value on dairies. The goal is to increase the skills and confidence of Alta staff to create value, build trust, and deliver results for Alta's target market, the progressive dairy producer.

Responsibility will reach across Alta's domestic and international markets, requiring effective teamwork with sales managers from around the world to set and implement priorities for development. This challenging position will also be responsible for the growth of the external client training programs and enrolling dairy managers for intensive study and practice using tools and techniques to maximize progressive dairy performance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Accountable for reaching Alta's objective to achieve competitive differentiation in the market through a highly capable and professional team of sales professionals and dairy management consultants
  • Lead the development, execution, and refreshment of internal training curriculum that equips Alta sales staff to be the best resource in the world for genetic management, reproduction, and economic decision making
  • Manage and grow external training options for clients in a tuition-based model, including AltaU and Dairy Manager Schools
  • Lead the development of a progressive training curriculum that builds passion in our team
  • Evaluate the implementation and use of sales and consulting skill in priority markets
  • Develop consulting tools and techniques for use with dairy clients
  • Organize an accessible and current knowledge center for the sales consultant team
  • Deliver training modules - in class/on farm/on-line
  • Document and provide feedback to sales management and HR on training progress and performance
  • Identify external dairy expert instructors and build & maintain relationships with them
  • Learn, understand, and implement effective methods to deliver training exercises that support excellence in educational programs and outcomes
  • Build relationships with all field staff to become a trusted advisor for them
  • Monitor feedback from field staff and provide recommendations to Sr Management around areas for improvement
  • Collaborate with the URUS People Development & HR teams to optimize support and resources

Organization Alignment & Position Location

  • Position reports to the Alta North America Sales VP
  • Strong preference for the position to be based in Madison, WI with travel required

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education & Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in the dairy industry
  • B.S. degree or higher, preferably in dairy science, animal science, ag business, marketing, or a similar field
