Group Tax Controller

The Role
This is a key role in the Group Tax team working with the Group Head of Tax to enhance the tax control framework of the Group commensurate with Irish Revenue’s Cooperative Compliance Framework Standards. The role will involve:
- Drafting governance documentation including policy guidance on the tax treatment of certain transactions in a manner that is understandable to non-tax colleagues.
- Working with Finance and Tax Function colleagues to put in place a best-in-class tax control framework.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Taxhead Manuals & Policy Guidance
- Tax Controls and Self Reviews
- Create and manage a tax risk register across all tax heads to mitigate risk.
- Conduct an Internal Audit standard programme of simulated Revenue intervention style self-reviews.
- Revenue Interventions
- Work with both Finance and Tax colleagues in managing Revenue Interventions.
- Strategic Tax Advice
- Provide strategic tax advice to the business, identifying opportunities for tax efficiency and incentives.
- Transfer Pricing
- Manage and develop the Group’s transfer pricing policies and documentation.
- International Taxation
- Support the business in rolling out Irish standard tax controls to other regions as the Group grows its international jurisdictional footprint.
- Recognise and manage permanent establishment risk.
- Ability to identify IT risk-based controls as Revenue increasingly go digital with reporting requirements.
- Lead by example with demonstrated professional ethics and motivation to develop tax as a career.
- Work with business stakeholders to identify problem areas and control weaknesses. Offer value-adding solutions.
- Mentoring and coaching of non-tax technical colleagues.
Requirements
- Irish Tax Institute qualified with 3 years + post qualification experience gained in an accountancy practice environment.
- Tax qualification combined with accountancy qualification an advantage.
- Excellent oral and written presentation skills via interactions with colleagues and external advisors.
- Strong team player who can learn from senior management and retains ability to work on own initiative.
- Knowledge of ERP systems is advantageous.
- Strong Excel skills to extract and analyse data.
