TransUnion is looking for a managing counsel role to lead our regulatory affairs efforts. We are looking for an attorney with experience in privacy regulation who is excited to work at the intersection of regulation, technology, and consumer finance. We are looking for a highly adaptable and collaborative person who enjoys a fast-paced environment. This is an exciting opportunity to join an amazing company and contribute to our mission for financial inclusion. This role will be based in Washington, DC and will report to the Head of US Government Relations.
What You'll Bring:
- J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least 1 U.S. state bar
- 8+ years of public policy, government affairs/relations, and/or policy development experience, preferably with in-house experience.
- Public policy experience on consumer data technology, privacy, or financial services matters.
We'd Love to See:
- Track record of identifying and executing creative solutions to address public policy challenges and opportunities.
- Navigate complex regulatory frameworks to help develop firm-wide positions on public policy matters.
- Support development of Regulatory Impact Analysis program and help monitor and track federal and state legislative proposals and regulatory events.
- Ability to provide practical, strategic and business-oriented legal advice.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple time sensitive tasks.
- Experience drafting comment letters, working with industry trade groups, and engaging in rulemaking and legislative advocacy efforts.
- Skilled at persuasively and diplomatically advocating complex policy positions before a wide variety of audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, and exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Impact You'll Make:
- In collaboration with TransUnion's Government Relations team, this role will be responsible for assisting and executing TU's regulatory engagement strategy.
- Build and maintain relationships with key public officials and serve as a TU ambassador with key external stakeholders.
- Monitor and report on regulatory initiatives that impact the business, and work with business leaders and lawmakers to shape regulatory outcomes.
- Collaborate with and educate internal business executives and legal colleagues to understand and convey the impact of legislative and regulatory proposals on the corporation.
