Astellas’ Global Capability Centers – Overview

Purpose and Scope:
This Gen AI Engineering position is dedicated to a priority program within Astellas, called the Gen AI POD. The Gen AI POD is responsible for evaluating, implementing, maintaining, and owning enterprise level Gen AI tools, both internal built products and licensed vendor products.
As a Gen AI Engineer, you will be a crucial player in driving our digital initiatives forward in our agile organization. Our agile operating model consists of two components – Digital Capability and Digital Execution. Digital Execution is about aligning multiple missions around business goals and facilitating collaboration on a larger scale. Digital Capability, on the other hand, focuses on the growth and development of individuals within a specific expertise area. This dual structure enables us to scale agile practices efficiently while maintaining a focus on both product development and individual skill enhancement
As a Gen AI Engineer, you will design, develop, deploy, and monitor Agentic AI products for our organization. This role involves a blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and a deep understanding of current Agentic AI trends, capabilities, and limitations. You will implement new use cases in our Agentic AI products like Moveworks, Copilot Studio, and our internal built Gen AI tools. You will use your knowledge, expertise, and quick learning to stay ahead and teach others in evolving Agentic AI ecosystem. You will provide technical support for these products and resolve issues with external agencies and teams, business users and software vendors. You’ll also monitor performance and drive continuous improvement. The evolving use and future opportunities bring a lot of variety in your day-to-day job.

This position is based in Bengaluru and will require some on-site work

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Developing use cases in agentic AI solutions (Moveworks, Copilot Studio, etc.) and integrating with other business applications, such as CRM or ERP systems.
• Creating, publishing, and maintaining agents to different channels, including Microsoft Teams, Websites, and mobile apps.
• Increasing tools’ adoption through evangelizing platform capabilities/benefits and conducting training sessions.
• Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Regularly monitor performance of applications, simplify administrative activities, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to improve efficiency and user experience.
• Security & Compliance: Ensure the applications are secure, compliant, and projects adhere to SLC best practices, including managing identity and access and securing data. Generate and maintain related documentation as needed.
• User Support and Training: Provide technical support to developers and users, resolve issues, and conduct training sessions.
• Initiative Execution: Actively participate in and contribute to various initiatives, applying your specialized skills to achieve the objectives and expected Value. Contribute to the ongoing realization of Value from these enterprise platforms through continuous integration and deployment.
• Collaboration: Work collaboratively with team members within the subdivision and across other digital and business units.
• Continuous Learning: Engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in a specific area of expertise.
• Innovation: Contribute innovative ideas and approaches to enhance project outcomes and digital capabilities.
• Reporting: Regularly report on system use to your Capability Lead, VT captain, and team members.
• Problem-Solving: Employ analytical and problem-solving skills to overcome project challenges and deliver effective solutions.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure the highest quality and consistency in the work delivered.

Preferred Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in relevant field, e.g., Computer Science, Data Science
• 5+ years of demonstrated engineering (development and configuration experience in Agentic AI solutions like Copilot Studio, Moveworks, etc. in a development or support role).
• Firm understanding of LLMs, machine learning, neural networks, and natural language processing. 
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft suite, Copilot and SharePoint Online. Experience with creating and publishing Copilot agents.
• Demonstrated experience of quick learning, striving to apply new tools within company culture and maturity, and being able to train technical and non-technical users in new features and tools. Demonstrated ability to innovate and implement new AI solutions.
• Scripting skills with PowerShell and Python.
• Understanding of relational databases and SQL.
• Knowledge of Agile and DevOps ways of working. Experience in using Azure DevOps for continuous integration, continuous delivery, pipelines, and version control.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with development, operations, security teams, business users, software vendors, and other external agencies.
• Strong problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to agentic AI solutions. Investigate and resolve issues related to the application, infrastructure, or deployment pipelines.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for security, scalability, and reliability.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Agile and adaptable to changing environments and project scopes.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Life Sciences / Pharma industry/Digital Health experience
• Agile Champion: Adherence to DevOps principles and a proven track record with CI/CD pipelines for continuous delivery
