Reporting to our Chief Training and Quality Officer, this role will be responsible for the development, sourcing, and delivery of training content to client facing colleagues.   The training and development of Cerity Partner colleagues, both new and tenured, is an integral part of our firm’s culture and growth strategy, and this role will have an integral part of its success..

The Training Director will focus on leading the design, development, and delivery of Cerity Partners University for newly hired associates. This focus will result in comprehensive training programs that transform newly hired associates into high-performing wealth management professionals. This role is critical to ensuring our new colleagues receive world-class onboarding and development experiences that set the foundation for long-term success at Cerity Partners.

Additionally, the Training Director will support the growth of the firm by designing, delivering, and growing outstanding financial planning content, process, and expertise across the entire organization.  Your focus will align the human capital growth of the firm with our client growth. The Training Director will lead the development of advanced curriculum content and deliver world-class financial planning and wealth management training to client facing Cerity Partner colleagues.  

Primary Responsibilities:

Financial Planning Training and Colleague Development

  • Act as a Cerity Partners’ thought leader and expert in all areas of financial planning, with specific focus on investment planning, retirement planning, and risk management

  • Formulate financial planning-focused curriculum to be delivered as internal training and continued education programs for existing colleagues as part of Cerity Partners University.

  • Help formulate the course curriculum to be delivered to colleagues based on their previous experience and role within the organization.

  • Help evaluate colleague’s competency in various financial planning areas.

  • Develop and deliver case studies for all colleague levels which both challenge technical skills while also developing emotional intelligence and client interaction expertise.

  • Act as a centralized subject matter expert to assist advisors with challenging client situations.

Presentation and Delivery:

  • Develop and write financial planning content and/or white papers to be used with clients/prospects and as internal educational pieces.

  • Deliver training on various financial planning and wealth management concepts to client facing colleagues (entry-level through tenured partners).

  • Plan, deliver and participate in regular firmwide calls, by providing relevant financial planning content and opportunities to Cerity Partners advisors.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with local partners to design development plans for their colleagues to either improve performance or accelerate career growth, where applicable.

  • Partner with technology and operations to integrate the tools and systems seamlessly into the technical training programs.

  • Develop and maintain the content utilized during the delivery of training, including the collaboration with internal subject matter experts to assist, where appropriate, based on their specific areas of technical expertise.

Cerity Partners University (CPU) Program Leadership & Strategy

  • Help design and oversee the strategic direction of CPU's new hire training programs, ensuring alignment with Cerity Partners' client service excellence standards

  • Lead the development of comprehensive curriculum for newly hired associates across all levels and functional areas

  • Continuously assess and evolve training methodologies to incorporate industry best practices and emerging trends in adult learning

Compensation Range:

$150,000 - $180,000

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Financial Planning, Business or related field of study.

  • 5+ years of relevant client-facing experience providing holistic financial planning to high net worth individuals, families, and institutions.

  • Deep knowledge and expertise in high net worth financial planning, retirement & cash flow, estate planning, income tax planning, insurance planning, and executive compensation & benefits.

  • You must have strong verbal and written communication skills, professional presentation, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to establish credibility, build consensus and collaborate with discerning, expert advisor colleagues.

  • Your organization and project management skills set you apart from your peers and you use data and data analysis to ground every decision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in teaching or training and development

  • CFP©, CFA, and/or CPA designations

  • Experience with eMoney, Salesforce, BNA, Holistiplan, Addepar, Orion and Cornerstone software
