Hybrid working with up to 3 days per week working from home

Salary starting from £40K per annum dependent upon experience

Due to internal promotion, we’re looking for a seasoned Financial Accountant to join our Financial Control and Reporting team. Here you’ll maintain the day-to-day accounting process including a focus on the accounting control and audit of specified business units, produce month results, balance sheet reporting, forecasting and more.

How you’ll help us make health happen

Some of the duties you'll perform are:

  • Production of accurate monthly financial and management accounts for specified business units in line with deadlines.
  • To become familiar working with the accounting experts within the IFR&C Team on policy, rules and accounting standards that govern the preparation of accurate financial accounts.
  • Ownership of the upload to Group’s consolidation system – Tagetik, ensuring completion is in line with BGIUK MU and Group instructions and deadlines.
  • Preparation of quarterly IPT, VAT returns, providing support and guidance as required to the BGIUK tax team. 
  • Prepare calculations for the recommended level of non-technical provisions required for each financial/statutory period end.  
  • To provide relevant financial information for first review on a monthly basis to allow the speedy preparation of the management accounts.
  • To assist with the process of preparing annual forecast submissions to the BGIUK MU and Group, along with review with the GLT Manager and Head of Financial Reporting .
  • Prepare year-end financial and statutory returns as per Group and industry guidelines as well as the maintenance of year-end working files for internal control, Group submissions and external audit review.
  • To be able to perform routine system functions, with the support of the Financial Systems Administrator.
  • Learning and development alongside the accounting experts within the IFR&C team, to become fully conversant with all regulatory information and standards required.

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

  • The successful candidate is likely to be qualified in an accounting professional qualification – ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet stretching and tight deadlines.
  • Finance experience with a strong grasp of double entry is necessary for success in the role.
  • Must be analytically and numerically minded.
  • Advanced PC skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and PeopleSoft. Access desirable.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, including communication, management of expectation, recommendations, quality of outputs, etc.
  • The jobholder will be expected to proactively build and maintain relationships with stakeholders throughout Bupa.
  • Quick to learn and responsive to the needs of the business.
  • Proactive with a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • The successful candidate will have good commercial skills and the ability to adapt to new environment quickly.
