What you will do:
This role is accountable for administration of SEC-registered investment advisor. Build and maintain and maintain sub advised strategies for the NM Series Fund and sub-advised mutual funds that contemplate markets in which the products are most relevant, are designed to be competitive and financially sound, and are managed in coordination with a broad variety of departments across the company.
What you will do:
- Develop and present materials to support third party fund board of director briefings
- Oversight and management of sub-advisory relationships
- Principal executive officer of the Northwestern Mutual Series Fund
- Works closely with the MSA and NMSF Board of Directors, Chief Compliance Officer and other senior officers to recommend and implement regulations, policies, priorities and direction
- Oversees and supervises the implementation and ongoing operation of the NMSF Risk Management program and risk management efforts
- Treasurer of MSA, and responsible for MSA's financial activities, including accounting, budgeting, financial planning and financial control
- Own relationship with fund administrator, including partner selection, contract terms and on-going oversight
- Supporting committee structures that include service provider oversight, proxy voting, brokerage and trading activities, liquidity risk management, pricing functions, and others
- Oversee program application and promotion of sub advised mutual funds
- Interface with industry organizations and regulators
- Coordinate with Finance Department for services needed in the areas of revenue and expense management.
- Pricing and valuation oversight and coordination
- Work across the IPS, particularly the investment team, advisory product, and annuity team to understand the objectives of the Wealth Management offerings
- Annual investment advisory and sub-advisory contract renewal coordination
- Lead within Investment Advisor division by attracting and retaining high quality talent and fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and teamwork. Provide coaching and feedback, engage employees to strive for excellence, and grow future leaders.
Bring Your Best! What this role needs:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, finance, economics, or related field
- 10 or more years of experience in financial services with emphasis in securities products / advisory products / broker-dealer operations / investment adviser activities, etc.
- Obtain the licenses as required by the role
- Experience supporting registered investment advisors and 40 Act funds
- Experience coordinating board of director meetings and materials
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Wealth Management industry, including product, pricing, marketing, customer preferences, marketplace standards, investment advisor offering, future trends and servicing
- Demonstrated ability to analyze marketing, financial and consumer data and information to create, develop and implement workable solutions that meet customer needs and achieve financial targets
- Proven ability to anticipate future consequences and trends accurately
- Superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to develop relationships and negotiate skillfully in difficult situations at all levels within the organization and with the external parties
- Ability to create and coordinate written materials to support marketing and investment commentary
- Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze and effectively advise on strategic issues to senior management for action and results
- Ability to build strong external networks with people in the industry and/or profession
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing teams including assessing staffing needs, recruiting talent, and employee development
- Professional certification- CLU, ChFC, CFA, CFP, CPA or similar designation, MBA
